“Fantastic stay, some of the best service I've experienced”
Reviewed 3 March 2012

My family (wife + 3 kids) stayed here in February and we had a great experience. The best part was the service - I've stayed at Four Seasons and other Ritz properties so have experienced good service but this was near the top, if not at the top. Before we arrived Joanne at concierge helped set up transportation, a rental car for one day, and a few other things and every one was seamless. While we were there, the concierge overall was great, and when we asked where something was we were not given directions but personally escorted there (including a waiter who escorted us to the butterfly garden). My kids were treated very kindly and the food, while expensive, was great. we did the family plan that gave us two adjoining rooms and kids ate free with adults, which was a great deal.

My mother-in-law joined us half way through, and I asked the front desk if they could put her on the same floor as us. turns out that there were no free regular rooms on our floor, so instead of just saying "sorry" they upgraded her to a suite for free on our floor (and didn't even tell us, she opened the door and was amazed!). Lots of little things that were helpful in addition to these added up to a great stay. I will happily recommend this property and will return myself.

The Ritz lives up to its image. The hotel is beautiful, elegant and well polished - almost to the point of not being comfortable to hang around. Pool area and golf course are excellent (shared with JW marriott next door). I was a bit put off in that if you want a tube for your kids to swim the lazy river you have to buy it - first time I've run into that.
Service was great and staff was helpful and polite.
Two complaints:
1 - Self parking lot is very very far away and expensive
2 - The beds (and I am referring to doubles as I was there with my family) are very small - not only narrow but short. Not too bad if you have small children and get two rooms but adults in that bed are not comfortable.

Room Tip: Get a lakeside room if you can - the view is great.

Visited this hotel for a conference at neighboring JW Marriott. The front desk service was friendly and efficient and very accommodating with our requests to spend time at the pool after check out.
The room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated with turquoise accents, a very comfortable chaise chair and a private balcony.
The bathroom was clean and spacious as well with a separate shower and tub and a double sink vanity.
The pool area was beautiful and well kept with clean lounge chairs and prompt towel service. Having another waiter for pool side drinks would have been nice and we probably would have had a few extra rounds had someone been there to ask more often. Probably a good thing though as the drinks were on average 12-14 dollars.
The only down sides to this visit were the lack of staff in the bar and in the outdoor cafe. You would think the management would have anticipated extra traffic due to the numerous conferences and scheduled accordingly.
Also, wanting to pay a visit to a nearby mall we asked for a cab. They said certainly and then showed us to a town car with a considerable price difference. While it's a great service to offer, a guest should be notified up front of the difference and not be put on the spot and feel pressured to use the town car.
All in all, this is a great property, we enjoyed spending time at the pool and also highly recommend Norman's restaurant located on premises.

Not your average Ritz Carlton. Understandably biased towards families and not too business oriented. The occasional conference crowd may be in awe but by global standards of the Ritz brand doesn't measure up Most disappointing was the highly rated Normans Restaurant. Very expensive poor service and really not great by any standard. On the plus side, the grounds are great, nice pool, good service .... great golf course and sports facilities. Also as a top tier Marriott loyalty member doesn't allow one concierge access. The facility is beautifully decorated and staff are genuinely helpful Its Orlando after all, not New York so calibrate expectations

Room Tip: Pool view rooms are better

We were here for a week in October. We have a 2 year old and 5 year old and the trip was all about Disney, but mom and dad enjoy staying at nice hotels and getting in some relaxation too. We found a great deal through American Airlines- our week cost us about the same as staying at the medium level Disney hotels. We did consider staying on the Disney property but we were so glad we did not. True to Ritz standards, the hotel is beautiful, comfortable and the service is awesome. The concierge spent a great deal of time helping me to plan our weeks activities, even making the reservations and doing grocery shopping for me so that our suite was stocked with food when we arrived. We spent time at the pool and the sister resort's pool- they have a lazy river and slide for the kids over there but the pool is more crowded and the food is not as good- but you can still charge things to your room there as well. We used the hotel shuttle and/or taxi cabs to get back and forth between hotel and resorts and we were soooo glad to have a quiet, calm place to come back to after the craziness of the Disney parks all day. We saw how loud and crowded the Disney hotels were as well and we were so happy we chose the Ritz. The spa is OK, not spectacular- a bit on the small size, but nice and relazing. We even had the hotel find us a babysitter one day so we could do spa appointments and have an early dinner. A perfect vacation for mom, dad and the kids!!
