We don't usually write reviews but thought we would in this case. Hotel was exactly what we needed, lovely pool, jacuzzi, free daily fast-passes to Seaworld (which is quite literally a five minute walk out of the rear of the hotel).
Best thing about the hotel is the staff. Always courteous and willing to go the extra mile to help. We particularly wanted to mention Chelsea on the front desk - she is a credit to the hotel and made our stay all the better. The concierge (apologies but we have forgotten her name) was also very kind and always willing to help us with sound advice.
We had a standard twin double room, which was easily large enough for our family. The draws were a little awkward to open but that's probably because we packed too much into them! The fridge was really useful for keeping water cool and the coffee/tea facilities were good replaced daily. We had a nice view of Seaworld rollercoasters off in the distance to wake up to in the morning which was lovely.
The complimentary shuttles in combination with our 2 week trolley passes meant we didn't require a car and rarely used a taxi. There were two small guest launderettes - great value at $4 for wash and dry - which were a godsend.
We were able to order takeout food delivered to the room after an exhausting day, and the good thing was that the local calls were toll-free. Ask at reception for menus.
The locals were very friendly, often opening doors for us and always smiling, and drivers always slow down to allow you to cross on the less busy roads. I have to say though, the zebra crossings take a bit of getting used to as you have 30 secs to get across the road and knowing which button to press was also a little confusing :)
Although I personally would prefer safes in the room, the hotel had them at reception and we just had to sign for them whenever we put stuff in/took stuff out. The hotel gives you a key but guard it carefully as if you lose it it will set you back a few hundred dollars.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and again would like to thank the staff for making our holiday the best ever.
The Heratys (Wirral, UK)
Dos:
* ask concierge for fast-passes if you're going to seaworld (allows you up to 6 rides daily)
* use the short walk to seaworld accessed through far restaurant door
* 7/11 store just a short walk away and sells everything you need
* order trolley passes (bought 4 for $18 each and they were brilliant for IDrive)
* visit the outlets as you get some great deals. There are some clearance shops (i.e. Nike) a couple of stops before and you get even better deals there
* walk to Universal Studios from IDrive. We were surprised how close it was but it should only cost around $7 to get to IDrive back from Universal when you're travelling back if you prefer taxi
* when eating out you are usually given three recommended tips to pay but we just gave standard 15 percent usually and nobody complained
* order takeout from your hotel room (they are toll free from here using menus provided by hotel)
DONT'S:
* Taxis can be expensive and the drivers aren't the friendliest around although there were a couple of exceptions
* use menus slid under your hotel doorMore
