Ate here for lunch in October 2019 as it had a high appeal with the interesting appearance and nice decor in addition to the idea of a chocolate factory offering a dining experience. It’s somewhere we had looked at before arriving so a visit was something we was looking forward to and had high expectations of the place. Unfortunately the overall experience was less than satisfying.
Visited on a Friday lunchtime and was told 10-20 minutes for a table (more than fair) but this took 25 minutes. We then were shown to waiting area to wait another 5 minutes for the table (I have never had to wait to wait again for a table). After being seated the server took our drinks and food order quickly. Unfortunately that was the only quick thing from then on. The food took around 35 minutes to come up (for 2 sandwiches and fries) and were told the reason it took so long is because they were waiting for fresh fries. Well the fresh fries turned up cold so unsure that was the reason. My Croque Monsieur was not even a coffee shop standard toastie, in my opinion, but at 3/4 times the price. It come up burnt and pretty tasteless. The sweet tea was undrinkable as even as someone who likes sweet drinks this was off the scale.
The bill including service charge for 2 sandwiches, fries and 2 drinks was $47 and I would’ve been disappointed even paying half of that. The server was busy and done what she could, so that’s the only reason I’ll give 2/5.
Also tried a chocolate bar from the upstairs chocolate factory and that was awful (as well as the fact it costs around $3 per bar).
Would not visit this place again. Slow, food and chocolate not great and very expensive.
