“Animal Kingdom is Extra Magic”
Reviewed 5 March 2012

To experience all of the park's top entertainment and attractions, it takes some organization! Disney gives out a map and daily-highlights sheet.

Here's how we hit all of the top highlights. First, go to Africa and take the relaxing' Kilimenjaro Safari Ride'; possibility of seeing 16 different African animals. The wild animals are more likely to be out during the cool of the morning.

Exiting Africa, take a left turn to Asia to see the fabulous 'Flights of Wonder' show. Close by, the 'Kali-River Ride' is a fun water ride! You will get wet. Bring a thin poncho that folds up into envelope size. After that easy ride, 'Expedition Everest' is a heart-stopping roller-coaster ride for adults and older kids. Every age will love seeing the beautiful animals along 'Maharaja-Jungle Trek'.

The third area to explore is 'Discovery Island' located as the center piece of the park. It is marked by the beautiful-Baobob tree. The work-of-art tree has 325 animals carved into it and over 100,000 leaves attached. Inside the tree is an excellent and fun 3-D show, 'It's tough to be a bug!' It is loud and 3-D mayl scare little children.

The next area, Camp Minney-Mickey has the 'Festival of the Lion King Show', a musical extravaganza. Little kids will love this one, much like a circus atmosphere.

Save 'DinoLand USA' for the last, the kids won't want to leave. Watch popular 'Finding Nimo' before you enter the carnival-like area further down the path. In the carnival area, the little children will love the Triceratops Twirl, The Boneyard Play Maze and playing the carnival games. Seek out the $4 games with the least amount of people in order to win one of the cute stuffed animals easier. The older kids and adults will like the 'Dinosaur' and 'Primevil Whirl' rides.

The 'Jammin Jungle Parade' is at 3:45 PM, near the big tree. This parade is not as big as the Magic Kingdoms, but fun! If you go, arrive early to stake out a shady place to watch.

Every age will love seeing the beautiful animals at the 'Maharajah-Jungle Trek' in Asia!

There is a train between Harambe, Africa and Rafiki's Planet Watch. We missed taking the train because we just had time to fit in the highlights.

'Harambe' means community that pulls together, Rafiki' means 'friend' and the tree in the middle is a Baobob Tree.

I have been to Africa, maybe that's why I appreciated the Disney's fine planning and enjoyed the Animal Kingdom Park so much.

Also, please take the time to go and see the Africa Kingdom Lodge. The African animals grace the land behind the Lodge in the daytime and at night. There are night-vision goggles that a host will share. African stories are told around the campfire, about 6:00 PM.
The pleasant host and hostesses, at the Lodge, are from different parts of Africa. There is so much to learn from the Lodge's exhibits.

The buffet at the Africa Kingdom Lodge is very, very good; about $40/adult. The gift shop is filled with authenti- African souvenirs.

Please bring water, otherwise it is $2.50 a bottle. Snacks, lunch, sunscreen and a stroller to carry the backpack and children. A lanyard to stow your fastpass and Disney tickets is very helpful. Save your ticket receipt and take a photo of the back of your Disney tickets to record the numbers. In case of loss or theft, they can replace your ticket.

Plan your park visits way ahead by going to Disney.com and requesting they mail you the information.

I purchased our tickets at the Walmart, on Vineland, Orlando, FL. The agent was so nice there, unlike the 'nonrefundable' online sellers that I spoke to on the phone. A bonus is that Walmart has great Disney souvenirs at reduced prices. Dollar Store has Disney coloring books for a buck.

Have a great time, great memories by preparing for the parks!

“Customer Service is lacking”
Reviewed 5 March 2012

We live in Orlando with our 8 year old and have done every theme park at least 20 times. Every time we go I am always surprised at how rude most of the staff is that we come into contact with...it could be the 100+ degree weather they work in most of the time but honestly it gets a bit aggravating. Of course most of us are going to give our children a great memory so putting up with all the people there is just something we have to smile and deal with. I would recommend starting at the back of the park and working your way back up.....getting a plan in place first will save you from having to walk the entire property 4 times going back and forth to rides and such.

We were very impressed with Animal Kingdom. I have been to other Disney Parks, and this one took my breath away as soon as we entered. The Kilamanjaro safari was an amazing experience, and we got to see tons of animals. The kids were especially fond of the Dinosaur boneyard, and could have played in the sandy digging site for days! Best part is-the sand doesn't stick to you & the area is well shaded for those who need a break from the Florida sun.
