A not that far out of the way small place that serves a wonderful variety of Mexican, Salvadorean, and Spanish food. The service was excellent. Feel free to ask anything! My vegetarian daughter had the vegetarian sopas - Three thick corn tortillas deep fried and topped with re-fried beans, sautéed vegetables, lettuce, tomatoes, cotija cheese and crema. Excellent! I had the Salvadorean Bistec Al Pastor - Marinated pork steak topped with sautéed onions and peppers. Tender and extremely tasty! My other daughter had the Bistec de Res - Steak with sautéed onions, peppers and tomatoes in a red sauce. It was cooked exactly how she likes it. All three of us could not finish our meals, thus we were lucky to have fantastic leftovers the next day!

If you like authentic Mexican or Salvadorean home cooking food, no need to travel to another country. Eat here. You will feel like you are vacationing while eating. I can't wait to go back. Oh! The prices. You can't beat it!

We're staying on Sunny Isles and wanted Mexican or Cuban food and wanted a local find, not a chain restaurant. After reading reviews, we decided to take a little ride to El Guanaco. It took us about 20 minutes to get there, and if we didn't have our GPS, we wouldn't have found it. We blew by it because it is just a little tiny storefront.
When we walked in, there was only one other party in the 10 (or so) table room. It was about 7 pm. We were greeted by a woman who presumably owns the place. She was very patient, answering questions and making suggestions and she had a very pleasant sense of humor.
They had such a wide variety of foods that it was almost too much from which to choose. They bring chips and salsa while you are deciding.
We each started with pupusas. Never had one, and it was delicious. Three of us got the cheese and pork one and my husband got the cheese and chicken. They are like stuffed pancakes. They came with a little bit of coleslaw, which was really interesting because it had a bit of a bite to it.
Then we all ordered different main meals. I had the chicken fajitas- huge portion and delicious. The other meals were steak burritos, different flavors of tacos, and enchilladas. They came with beans and rice. The food came quickly and was hot. EVERYONE was very pleased with the meals and we left stuffed. Four of us ate heartily for less than $60!
When we left, the place was packed. We will definitely go back!!

Good fresh authentic Mexican food @ reasonable price. Ordered the vegetarian tostada and it was the yummiest tostada I had. Fresh zucchini and juicy green peppers made all the difference and the cotija cheese was to die for. It came with a side of rice , black bean and spicy cilantro sauce which were all very good. Service was good too. Good place for vegetarians. Would definitely visit again.
