Food is good but very small portions on the clam plate and the lobster rolls. Outside picnic tables so if it's raining or windy, you better stay in your car.

Thank you for commenting! We do our best to serve a fair portion at a fair price. Both the real "whole belly" fried clams and fresh lobster are high cost, highly perishable items that require quite a bit of special attention on our part. Although we are way down here in Florida, our roots are in New England, Maine in particular. The portions I serve here are the same as I have have served in Maine and I have managed to keep the price reasonable as well. In my experience a 6 ounce portion of clams (raw) breaded and fried has always been adequate for the average diner; too much for some. We would be happy to accommodate anyone with an appetite for more. The lobster roll is a cost driven portion. It seems that people who love fresh lobster (my wife included) can never have enough. So again, we do our best with it to serve a good portion at a reasonable price. At $18.50 with two freshly prepared side dishes we feel our lobster roll is an exceptional value. We are aware of another restaurant in town that will "supersize" a lobster roll for an added charge and we'd be happy to do that too. Thank you for taking time to give us your review. We hope to see you again soon. Jim

Recently opened by a friendly couple from northern Maine, this place is a very welcome addition to South Volusia! Fresh, plentiful, genuine New England fare. It is very difficult to find full belly fried clams in the south (as opposed to fried clam strips... NOT the same thing). Octopus's Garden has the plumpest, and simply the best tasting I've had outside of Dad's Clams in New London, CT. Their fish 'n chips baskets are huge and delicious. Home-made whoopie pies. Home-made everything! This location has had many businesses come and go over the years due to the small, outdoor-only seating. Octopus's Garden needs to stay, so everyone stop by and eat up!

Terrific, authentic Maine seafood. The cod fish is flaky, the lobster rolls are fresh, the onion rings are homemade & the real New England clam chowder should not be missed. The owners are friendly & eager to please. Outdoor seating.

Thank you for your kind words. We work hard to bring New England fare to N.S.B. and have a great time doing it. We've recently refreshed our menu with new entrée selections as well as side dishes and desserts so please continue to check on what's new at Octopus's Garden. Thanks again, Jim

On arrival, we received the menu and while pricy, New England lobster and chowder teased my taste buds. The chowder was good. The lobster roll was very small with meager lobster claw meat. It was OK. There is another lobster roll shop in town (beachside) that has spoiled us. This place is not Heavenly!

We're sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your experience here at Octopus's Garden to the extent to consider it "A Real Disappointment". In regards to the lobster roll, we are from New England and have chosen to serve ours on an authentic 6" cut New England style frank roll, buttered and grilled on both sides. The roll may be smaller, but that's all. I personally do all the food preparation in the kitchen and I can guarantee NO ONE serves a larger portion for the money and we use the entire lobster (tail, knuckle and claws). I can't run out of lobster because I keep them here live in a tank. I have in the past explained to customers that there may be a short wait while I steam fresh lobster to fill their order. So really, there's no chance of shortage or lack of freshness; or inconsistency for that matter. I encourage you to please dine with us again and if there is a problem or disappointment approach us and let us take care of you; it's why we're here. Beyond that we're grateful you don't have to go too far to find the lobster roll that you like even if it isn't ours. Thanks, Jim

This is the new shining star in NSB. The lobster roll is full of lobster to the extent that it keeps falling out of the bun. Very reasonably priced even if it did not come with two sides. There is no inside dining but who cares with food this good.

Kind words indeed, thank you so much. We're planning to create a more all-weather friendly dining area in the near future, but in the mean time please continue to enjoy your favorites with us al fresco on our beautiful patio in the (almost always) good weather! Thanks, Jim
