Oh, and the entrees we tried were delicious as well. Apparently everything is made by chef Gianni who warmly welcomed us. As he personally prepared each dish, his wait staff provided excellent service. This restaurant was recommended to us by a local business owner as one of her favorite dining spots. It did not disappoint. And we are so glad that we left room for dessert!

We are from the NYC area and were accustomed to really good Italian food - both elegant and home style (my fav). We dined at Café Gianni many times when they were in Eustis but lost track of them when they move. Happened to be in Mt Dora the other day and rediscovered them . Food is outstanding. Everything from the home made Past Fagioli to the 4 cheese and pear pasta main course. Everything on the Menu is spot on.

We LOVE Giannis and probably eat here twice a month at least! It is our go-to place to bring out-of-town guests for a perfect Mount Dora dinner experience! Chef Gianni is an actual chef from Italy (as opposed to many "chefs" in Italian restaurants) who has worked in many high profile settings but, luckily for us, decided to raise his family in the Mount Dora area. The food is authentic and absolutely delicious! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu! Most evenings, Chef Gianni will personally walk around the restaurant to check on guests and make sure everything is excellent. He will be happy to help with wine-pairings and has some interesting wines on his list. It is a very child-friendly restaurant and they will accommodate most reasonable requests for picky eaters. Meals are normal-large sized - you will be full when you leave but, depending on your entree, you might not leave with a doggy-bag. If you want a "never ending pasta bowl", go to Olive Garden, but if you want a quality, authentic Italian meal, go to Giannis.

The four of us were at a loss. Incomprehensible that so many people find the food to be remotely decent both in presentation and taste. NY Italians would, without hesitation, shut it down in a fly's second; BTW, plenty of them flying around the open kitchen and our food.
Started with a sloppily delivered, warmer than room temperature drowned Caesar salad along with a plate of died out little pieces of Italian bread looking like something served in a Cagney movie jail scene. And, no butter or oil-extra charge for a bowl.
Special of the night, Torteletta stuffed with squash with a sauce that looked as if the chef vomited over it for $26.95! The veal marsala, one +/- 4oz piece, again drowned in sauce with over- cooked pasta, the spaghetti in meat sauce minus any discernible evidence of meat and lastly Chicken Rigatoni once again unappetizingly delivered and tasteless.
Definitely not what mama cooked and served.
Shame on your reviewers. Lost my faith in Trip Advisor.

Thank you for you review--we appreciate both the good and the bad as a catalyst to improve our business. On the evening of your visit one in your party let us know shortly after being seated that you did not like "the voice" of someone seated nearby and that "our cook" (who is an Italian citizen, classically trained in Italy) looked "way too young." As the bread arrived it was made clear that disappointed was abound due to the fact that it was served in a bowl. Samples were requested of six sauces which to our knowledge is not restaurant etiquette. When you were informed there would be a charge for it, you were not happy about that either. The salad was served and fully eaten but then complained about. As dinner progressed you ate most of the meal and kept complaining while we offered multiple times to comp your meal. It was an eventful night to be at your service and I would like to close our my review with a one star rating to you for being "that customer" that no matter what, cannot be satisfied.
