Long gone the congestion of Zia as the coaches and rental cars wind their way up and through the village. With a big car park on the right before you reach the viewing point and wide cobbled street through the centre there is plenty of room for tourists to amble. If only there were any. As the vendors sit and wait masked up ready for visitors to browse and buy it would seem they are having a long wait. The few tourists who did make it up there today Italian, Dutch, French, German would seemingly be all Inclusive as the Tavernas ready to host struggled to occupy tables.
Tourists walked by, but few even looked up at the Tavernas, not even stopping for a drink or ice cream. How demoralising must that be. We on the other-hand had the most amazing Magic Mountain Salad and cool drink at The Magic Mountain Restaurant. As we sat with a ring side seat looking across the Salt Lake crystallising as it glistened with colours of pale turquoise and aquamarine frosting, the Sea and the Islands beyond, we were treated to our own private Greek lesson. Look up and the majesty of the Dikios mountain, rugged, raw sheer face of rock, hues of reds and ochres, greys and Green of the Pines that cling to the steep sides, cooled by a gentle breeze in this airy space we people watched. If only the tourists looked up and spent some quality time eating, drinking and relaxing for awhile. Who'd have thought lettuce could taste so..oooooo good laced with balsamic and honey dressing, sesame, haloumi, proscuito and cherry tomatoes Nostimos.

Helped by its terrific location, this is one of the first bar/eateries you'll come upon when walking into the village town of Zia.
Beautiful views.
Stopped for lunch which didn't disappoint.
Lovely grilled calamari & fried saganaki.
Very pleasant waitress served us on the afternoon, who was very attentive.
Just an idyllic spot to admire the views and grab some lovely food.
Give it a try!

We visited the place to try local food to a breathtaking view. We hardly find a table for two, but the stuff was very willing to help us. Our waiters, yannis and dimitris, offered us a very quick service and they were very friendly to us. Food is amazing if you want to try local food in low prices. Also deserts are homemade and very tasteful. The music was also traditional and the view was amazing.! We tried the sharing concept just to try as many plates as we could. I suggest you to visit the place and of course to take a walk to Zia village if you want to learn the tradition ofor the island.!
