“Great tour”
Reviewed 4 March 2012

I am a design writer so I took this tour in hopes of learning more about a design period I am enamored with while getting an over view of South Beach. Christine Michaels did not disappoint. In fact, she exceed my expectations. I learned a lot, enjoyed her stories and loved seeing the grand old Art Deco buildings in this part of the world. I highly recommend this tour. “Well Done Walking Tour”
Reviewed 4 March 2012

Learned about the Art Deco buildings and the history of South Beach. Nice amount of time for the tour and Christine is good at her job. Well planned and you can see attention to details with follow-up tour info and links to expand your knowledge. Would suggest it for all you get and the resonable price. Good work Christine!

“Worth Every Penny”
Reviewed 3 March 2012

Tour: Art Deco Tour
Tour Guide: Calvin
One word. Calvin. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Calvin. It was such a pleasure to experience Miami with such a knowledgeable and pleasant man. If you are interested in the history of Miami and Art Deco, this is the tour for you. It is truly well worth every penny.

Calvin's passion for the information he shares is infectious. We left with a new love for Miami. Our only regret was that we had booked a tour right after his tour. Because of Calvin's enthusiasm for what he does, he may not be restricted to a time limit. You may be lucky enough to REALLY get your money's worth. Thank you, Calvin. We LOVED our tour with you.

“First Visit to South Beach? This is a must-have tour!”
Reviewed 29 February 2012

Christine was easy to contact via email and text and very responsive. She starts and ends the tour at the Essex House where we were staying -- a nice touch for us. It was a weekday and our tour was with one other couple so no big group to contend with. Christine first took us to the Clevelander roof-top bar for a quick visual orientation to the area and to herself. Christine is high energy and very knowledgeable of the art deco history of Sobe -- great characteristics of an excellent tour guide. Christine then took us to and into a variety of hotels, explaining the art deco elements and history of each along with anecdotes that provided the color commentary. Very nice. By the time she dropped us back at the hotel, we felt more at home in the area and a whole lot more aware of the hip place we were visiting.

After the tour, Christine followed up with a nice email message with a summary of the tour to help us remember what we had heard -- another nice touch. Thanks again, Christine.

This tour was booked on the internet after a "Google" search for South Beach walking tours and secondary searches to sites like TripAdvisor. Christine Michaels was very professional yet extremely personal regarding all aspects of her company and this tour.

Booking & Payment - The booking process was easy. After a couple of emails and replies to finalize a date and time, I reserved and confirmed my date with a PayPal deposit. Almost immediately a confirmation was received with the meeting place given as well as some links for other Miami activities and restaurants. After the tour, payment was done by credit card (she carries an iPad with a secure payment app).

Pre Tour - We arrived 10 minutes early and had no problem waiting in the hotel where the tour starts (they were well aware of her tour and even pointed out where the restrooms were). Christine arrived a few minutes early and informed us that just 1 other couple would complete or group. This was a huge plus for us. We have been on many tours (large groups, family only, just us, etc.) and found the tour guide can answer everybody's questions and deviate from a set schedule without concerns with a small group. In fact, the other couple was caught in traffic and was 20 minutes late. So what did Christine do? She extended our tour by 20 minutes only after clearing the delay with us.

The Tour - Great introduction to what the Art Deco district is all about. Plenty of information and a lot of photo opportunities. The personnel in buildings that we entered were just like at our starting point - welcoming to Christine and her tour. The strenuous rating is "mild." Distances between stops were short and she allowed time for questions as well as asked us questions. She also provided a bit of information regarding other places to visit in the area. Finally, after arriving home, we had an email with all of the pertinent details that she covered during the tour so note taking (doubt we would do it anyway) is unnecessary.

We were well satisfied with the tour and would recommend it without any reservations.
