Hotel was clean. Nice restaurant and bar next door. It is in a great location and the check in and out process was very easy. The rooms and decor are VERY Art Deco to the point of almost outdated. Look at the pictures and you will know what to expect. I understand there may be a remodel in the future. Beach, stores, shopping and great food all within walking distance. Bed was comfortable and for the price, fulfilled our needs.

Bit overpriced according to the fact they are short before the reconstruction! No one informed us they are going to have reconstruction so shortly!
Mini bar/ fridge was locked so I called the concierge to bring us the key (as I had some baby food to refrigerate). They never showed up even if they promised! So I went to the front desk and the man told me it was locked because it is not in service as they are going to reconstruction shortly. Who cares? I paid regular price and no one informed us we are not becoming the regular service as they plan a reconstruction in few weeks! And why is the mini bar closed already now?
Room we got was big enough, but feel we don´t want us or baby touch the ground bare foot, shower bit dirty as well and fan terribly noisy.
Welcoming information to keep everything valuable in the safe was bit scary.
Hotel bar and facilities not working. No wheelchair or stroller access.
We accept it´s a historic hotel, but it also can be clean and well maintained if old fashioned.
Only good thing is location - Ocean front.

Great location at Lummus Park but the hotel is a bit long-in-the-tooth, dark and unattractive. Staff was friendly and helpful (the electronic key was maddening) and the room was clean, but very weak water pressure and thin walls. Overpriced even for this trendy area.

Room Tip: Rooms in the front are noisier as the sidewalk restaurant is very active.

We stayed in the building next to the main building, in this building the apartments were converted into hotel rooms. Very spacious, old school deco, very polite and accommodating staff. Prime location because it's across the street from the beach but also away from the annoying Resturant workers that don't let you walk on the strip in peace.

Good price, overall a good experience for the price paid

This hotel has a great facade and really does fit the Art Deco vibe of south beach. The location is really amazing, right on ocean drive and on the beach, walking distance to just about everything on south beach.

The rooms are large, and the bathroom was also quite nice for a 1930's era hotel. The window was small and placed in the corner of the room which is certainly a design flaw (why wouldn't you maximise the view of the beach? There's one lift, it's a bit noisy and being Miami, there are guests coming and going all through the night and early morning.

The lobby is a bit dull, as is the pool area, but I'm told they're undergoing a renovation soon. Concierge was also a bit lifeless. The hotel does whatever they need to in order to get by, but really aren't making any effort to win new business and they simply rely on the excellent location. If you can get a good rate then stay here, but with a little extra expense you could probably stay somewhere with a bit of life to it!
