We stayed here after our trip to the Bahamas and on our way to Europe. It was just an overnight, but it was a good experience. The staff was nice and helpful, shuttles on time, very clean rooms and a Starbucks on site. What more could we ask for? This was a reasonably priced, good place to stay when in the Miami airport area. We have stayed at other hotels near the airport and will return here for a number of reasons, mostly the cleanliness of the rooms and ease of getting to and from the airport.

We were placed here for one night by a cruise company when our ship broke down at sea. We got off to a poor start - the rooms were not ready and we were expected to sit in the lobby for up to 6 hours whilst people rushed round desperately trying to allocate rooms. This was disappointing as they must have been aware that around 200 people were about to descend on them. However, given that there were a lot of angry adults and upset children, the hotel staff coped extremely well. The staff were polite and helpful - trying to get those with children who hadn't slept in 24 hours into rooms as quickly as possible.

We were happy to wait by the pool (which wasn't great - bit small and murky), and the lady on reception was so grateful that she upgraded our room.

The rooms were fairly average for a Marriott. Big bed, nice flat screen tv, clean bathroom. The air con was ok, just a little loud.

We ate in the restaurant in the evening. The food was good, although we made what must be a very common mistake - we asked for steak and chips. Of course, our beautiful steaks came with crisps, not chips. The waiter happily changed them though. Breakfast was also perfectly adequate - a buffet with fruit, pastries and cooked meat/eggs etc.

The lobby appeared to have been renovated fairly recently as the walls, paint, chairs and tables etc looked in very good condition.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel if you want to get out and about in Miami as it is a good 20 minutes drive away (and considerably further from Miami beach), however, this is perfectly good for a night before a flight / joining a cruise.

The Pros – The check-in was fast and the front desk personnel were friendly. The room was very spacious. The beds were comfortable. There was good counter space in the bathroom. The desk area was big enough to work on the laptop and do business. There were ample outlets for the laptop, recharging batteries, etc. The restaurant food and beverages were very good.

The Cons – The walls were very thin and you could hear a lot noise from the street. The Internet service was not free. The door frame in the bathroom was very dirty. Cleaning staff did not pay attention to detail. There was no microwave or mini-fridge which was inconvenient. View was the roof of the next building. Although the food and drinks were good, the service in the restaurant was very slow. Also, the music in the restaurant was much too loud. It was hard to hold a conversation with the people at your table. Although having a Starbucks in the lobby was nice, it closed much too early which was not convenient.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your comments regarding your stay at the Miami Airport Marriott. We do take all comments seriously and appreciate all the feed back that we can get. We have taken additional steps to ensure that our housekeepers are always paying attention to detail and our service in the restaurant is quicker than that what you experienced.

Although we do not offer a microwave or mini-fridge in our guest rooms as standard we do accommodate requests on a first come first service basis. In addition our Residence Inn located on our campus provides rooms with kitchens with all appliances as standard.

Thank you again for your comments because we are always looking for ways to improve our service.

Sincerely,

The hotel lobby is spectacular but the size of the bathroom was extremely small. Very disappointed that no coffee/tea in room as advertised. For the price, there should have been a mini refrigerator and microwave. No complimentary breakfast was also a big disappointment. Would not stay there again.

I had an overnight stopover arriving at MIA after midnight. The hotel shuttle was quick and efficient. The hotel was a 5 minute drive and the courteous driver offered a bottle of water upon entry into the shuttle.

Check in was quick and the front desk staff very nice.

The hotel is simply beautiful. My bed was very comfortable. BUT.... the curtains were made in such a a way as so that wouldn't close all the way and you had a good 6 feet of nothing but those flimsy white curtains. The lights from the parking lot shown brightly into the room all night which was a real problem for me. I am one of those people who need darkness to sleep.

The next morning, I ate at the buffet which was acceptable but extremely overpriced at over $20. The return shuttle was quick and again the driver was pleasant.

I can not recommend this hotel to anyone who needs darkness to sleep and I would not recommend anyone eat at the breakfast buffet.

Dear Guest,

I reviewed your comments regarding your stay with us at the Miami Airport Marriott. We do take all comments seriously and appreciate all the feedback we can get and I do apologize for the lack of a completely dark room in which to sleep. We have evaluated our offerings on our breakfast buffet and have added in some additional items for our guests.
