What a clean and lovely hotel. Great for our one night stay before needing to catch an early flight at the airport. Everyone was very nice, and the room was clean and beautiful. We also enjoyed a light supper from the on-site restaurant, Prime 36. The hotel was also nice and convenient to the rental car center at the airport.

My son and I were taking a plane-spotting trip to Miami. After much research and looking at reviews, I chose the Candlewood Suites. Since watching planes was key, I wasn't really sure how this would turn out, but it was great! I asked for a high floor, front facing room and they gave us a room on the 5th floor. The view will not be as good as you go down, due to the wall around the perimeter of the airport. From our room, you could see planes on approach for 8L/R and 9, coming from the west, not easy when landing from the east, but could see them on the tarmac.

As for the room itself, it was very nicely appointed and clean. Full kitchen was useful for our 3 night stay. Housekeeping wasn't available, but you could get whatever you needed from the front desk. They have a nice pool, a poolside area to grill and sit. There is free laundry (only need to supply the soap), a store with necessities, and a gym. One big advantage for the hotel is the airport shuttle, which departs every 30 minutes. When we arrived, I called the hotel and the shuttle was sent over immediately. It runs from 6am-10:30pm. When asking for late checkout at 1pm, the staff were more than happy to do that for us.

Though the hotel itself doesn't offer food, the Prime 36 restaurant attached was fantastic. We ate there 3 times and the food was great. I can suggest the picanha for dinner and the happy hour drinks? Every day until 7pm. I had a very large capirinha and it was delicous...and only $6! Breakfast was buy 1, get 1, so my son always ate free. Their latte was also very good. We had seconds on one day.

Overall, the staff, location, and amenities for our needs were just perfect. Definitely will stay here again when we want to do some more plane spotting. BTW, the reviews were the best of any hotel in the area. :)

Room tip: South rooms could have more noise, but the glass was relatively sound proof. We specifically asked to be where the planes were.

Nice hotel. Nice staff. Clean lobby. We were on the top floor but our room faced the road so it was noisy. You can’t hear the noise when the ac is on. I would recommend requesting a room on the back side for quiet. Room is huge with a usable kitchen. Lots of room. Nice bathroom but the shower wouldn’t rise above lukewarm and very low water pressure. Bed was comfy. I loved the blackout curtains!! It’s right next to the airport but I couldn’t hear any planes. Has a convenient shuttle to take you to the airport. There is a restaurant onsite but we didn’t go there. Denny’s is a quick 10 minute walk down the street. We only stayed one night between flights.

I’ve had the pleasure of staying at this hotel multiple stays this last year. The rooms are clean and well appointed. The suites are even better and the kitchenette in each room is an added advantage for an extended stay.

There is a regular shuttle to the airport and environs with friendly, flexible and good service.

The restaurant downstairs is well priced and the food is surprisingly good, with well priced drinks.

The best aspect of this hotel is the wonderful staff compliment. From Adriana in sales to Ashley, Owen and Dean at checkin, as well as the cleaning staff, everyone is very friendly, efficient and pleasant. All customer touch points are well handled.

I will be returning again for my next stay and the next, and highly recommending this hotel to everyone headed to the 36th street or airport environment in Miami.

Booked 2 nights before cruise and 2 nights after at beginning of March.. Free shuttle to/from airport but not to cruise port. Fairly new hotel based overlooking cargo section of airport. Miami is vast and the location is a long way from the tourist hot spots and most roads around are dual carriageways and very busy. There are bus stops nearby and services are cheap [$2.25 a journey] but irregular. Uber is the usual mode of travel it seems. It costs about [varies dependent on time of day etc. $15 one way to downtown/beach] Best bus journey is to the Huge Dolphin Mall about 30 minutes journey past Doral. Hotel staff are friendly and welcoming but are not so good on advice/bookings for tours. Reception as are the *rooms is large, bright and comfortable [*especially beds and pillows]. Double glazing minimises noise from planes. Rooms have aircon, kitchenettes and bathrooms have a shower hair dryer and a small bathtub. They would however benefit from a mirror over the dressing table/desk and a couple of stools for the breakfast bar. Downstairs features a laundry room [bedrooms have irons and boards] a small gym and a larder store where you can purchase necessary drinks/sandwiches etc. plus food for microwaving. Coffee, tea and cocoa are foc [there is no kettle in room only percolator]. Outside there is a small and sunny pool area and a huge car park. A small restaurant has opened adjacent to the hotel but it is not cheap. There is very little else nearby except for a few fast food shops/restaurants and petrol stations with small shopping areas within them [groceries/alcohol/odds and ends etc.[turn left out of hotel not right as there is nothing at all down there except the road to Doral].
In conclusion a great place to stay if using airport or for business but for a longer term holiday downtown/beach hotels are probably more suitable.

Room tip: Room 604 is near the lift and has great airport views
