We had a lovely meal in this restaurant. The fish dishes are superb. Specify the size you want to order or they will give you the big one which may be too much for some. We loved the card on the table saying they don’t use straws as they are bad for the Environment so we’re most surprised to get condiments in single use plastic containers - an area to be improved upon? Such a nice location overlooking the water. We could see fins in the water and the server reckoned it was sharks.

We checked it out the beginning of our trip and got to sit outside, right along the dock. Was great! Until a small shower hit that moved us under the patio.. But staff was seamless in moving guests to safe and dry spots. Had the Lobster tail and grilled shrimp, Hubby had the blackened shrimp both were great! Second trip back we say inside overlooking the water.. Was nice. I had surf & turf this time steak was melt in your mouth good and Lobster of course was amazing. Hubby had the fried shrimp and added on some coconut shrimp.. He said he could just drink the piña colada sauce and the cilantro chili sauce! Great service both times! They interacted and had a couple great conversations! Definitely will return again!

Great lunch and well worth the visit! Fresh grouper was great and so were the lobster rolls. Highly recommended!

Went there for my son's birthday. Read reviews of some mixed reviews about the food as well as service. We went at 3:30 pm, had a reservation. The hostess tried to rush us to our table as some of us at the bar waiting for our remaining party. She asked 3 times for us to go to our table (we were still 15 minutes early). I called ahead to request a window view and she said she could not as she just seated a party of 16, but, "every table has a view." I asked if we could bring a cake and she replied "yes, but we don't cut it." She could have stated things in a different way...she was obviously following the rules of the leadership, which is honestly unexpected for a Gecko's owned restaurant. The server tried to be kind, but she was a tad inpatient with us and seemed preoccupied and again tried to rush us, most likely not her fault, but management. The food was meh by all 8 in our party. Oh, regarding requesting a window view, the original hostess said she just sat 16 people by the window and couldn't accommodate...well, there were 2 tables of 4 they could have pushed together by the window to make 8 by the table. There was another party of about 10 next to us and a couple parties of 2, that's it in the entire upstairs restaurant. The hostess must have been directed by the leadership/management to not give up those tables. But, the table was actually fine and we all had great views. I just don't appreciate the poor customer service and being rushed. I would recommended to go there for a drink and perhaps an appetizer and the view. Definitely not customer oriented. If you know what to expect up front, then it will be fine.

Fresh grouper, lobster roll or crab cake sliders. Don’t know which is my fave. Great and friendly service, fantastic food and magical view. Must stop if you are on Longboat. Worth the drive if not.
Watch for the daily dolphin sighting! Great bar.
