Description: Steak 'n Shake, a classic American brand, was founded in 1934 in Normal, Illinois by Gus Belt who pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milkshakes. For over 80 years, the company's name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word "steak" stood for steakburger. The term "shake" stood for hand-dipped milkshakes. Gus was determined to serve his customers the finest burgers and shakes in the business. Today, Steak 'n Shake remains the "better burger" leader, serving premium 100% beef steakburgers, hand-dipped milkshakes, thin crispy fries, and more. Steakburgers are made without preservatives or artificial ingredients, topped with fresh produce, and always hand-crafted to order. Other classics include the Frisco Melt, 7x7, Prime Steakburgers, and fan favorite M&M milkshakes.

The best shakes we have had. Burgers are also very good. Good deals with coupons that come in the mail.

This is Sunday Jan 28, 2018. We usually come to this location several times during the winter season that we are down here from Ontario, Canada and have always enjoyed a great burger that has taste - something many of the other chains can't say. But today we decided to try having a breakfast which was rather good and a lot less expensive than most other sit down restaurants. They feature an all you can eat pancake feast for around $3.99 and a nice harvest breakfast that includes eggs cooked your way, bacon, hash browns and toast for something in the $3.00 range.

Stick with the regular burgers - been enjoying them for years. Sat at the counter - watched the new burger cook. Then it disappeared for an inordinate amount of time. Obviously had been microwaved when it was delivered. No silverware for the small amount of fries included - had to ask. The lettuce was chunks of the stem end - not the leafy part. It did come with a steak knife standing in it. Was dry and not thick and juicy as pictured in ads. Was $9.40 with tax and a small sweet tea - $11 w/tip. Would not order again. A “Triple Prime” burger up the road is a far better burger. Smallest amount of fries I’ve ever gotten at a Steak & Shake too.

This is one of the spots we hit fairly frequently; they put out lots of coupons and generally have good, cheap food. This time, though, it was a bit of a disaster. They didn't bring our drinks with the chili, nor did they bring them with our burgers. We had to ask, and then they brought drinks that were not what we ordered. The burgers also were incorrect-- we all got the same basic kind, but with different toppings, which they messed up. Finally, when we went to pay, we had a coupon that meant our three meals would be $4 each, or around $12. Imagine our surprise when the bill was $18, $6 more than it should have been (or 50%). When we asked about it, the guy ringing us up merely said "I can't read the small print on the coupons." So, no, $6 is not going to break the bank, but I've never seen this kind of incompetence at a fast food place, so we'll probably be looking for a different go-to spot.

Went here for a recent grandchild's birthday dinner. Great milkshakes, average burgers but great for the price. Ample parking. Hope the family does not take me there for my birthday.
