Owner description: Tropical gardens set in an old fort
Reviewed 24 February 2012

The Garden's at the West Martello Tower are beautiful. If you are careful and quite, you can catch about 20 to 30 iguanas sunning themselves from the top of the trees to the bushes in the back. Very serene and a beautiful view of the ocean. We stumbled on this while taking a walk and it was fabulous!

A must stop if you want to know about all the plants, trees and flowers you see growing eveywhere in the town...located in an old Civil War Fort that is right on the beach...and it is beautiful...had fun and learned a lot...no admison charge, just a donation box

The Key West Garden Club took over the upkeep of the Martello Tower & the club representative gives you a quick overview of the property and also a re-usable map of the property while you are walking around. There are rooms within the tower that house various types of foliage & flora that are beautiful. My favorite were the orchids.
Once you step outside, it's such a peaceful garden area that it's easy to wander around and get immersed in the calm surroundings. The gazebo at the highest point of the property is quaint and beautiful.
It's not a tour that will take long, but while you are there it's quite enjoyable. Be sure to leave a donation on your way out the door.

It is small, but very interesting. Worth the fifteen minutes.

This is a beautiful garden in an old, partially-constructed, fort that is kept up by the Key West Garden Club. It's cool and quiet and has some lovely views. Best of all, it's free.
