We planned a surprise 40th birthday party at this property in May . The staff was VERY accommodating at helping us with the surprise. The property is very well kept and tranquil around the pool area. The property is only a few steps from Duval yet very quite. We stayed at the palmetto palm room( we wanted a full kitchen) this room has its own entrance, but the rest of our party stayed in the king palm and royal palm which you have to go through a secure gateway to then get to your room. We felt very comfortable there. We will diffinitely stay again at this property in future trips to Key West.

My wife and I recently spent 3 days at the Douglas House in Key West and really enjoyed the accomodations. Our apartment-like room was great. We were very close to Duval St. where all the restaurants and cool bars are located. Our room was 80 steps from a Key Lime Pie co, location (we stepped it off). the staff at the Douglas House was very friendly and accomodating (especially Stephen). The rooms were large, clean and well maintained.

This was our fifth trip to Key West and the Douglas House was by far the best deal for the money that we have encountered. The only drawback to the property was parking. Since it is so close to Duval people parked on the street who were just visiting. The hotel has a lot which is close , however.

Our next trip to Key West we will definitely call the Douglas House first for a place to stay.

This was a spur of the moment trip, so there really wasn't much planning to it. We wanted a pet friendly hotel on what turned out to be a very heavily booked weekend. We ran across the Douglas House on one of the pet friendly sites and booked the room. Overall, we were very pleased. The Royal Palm was a very nice, large room. Bed was a bit harder than we like, but serviceable. The room was very clean. The staff was very pleasant. Because of booking at the last minute, we did have to switch rooms in the middle of the stay. The staff made it completely painless. The second room was the Fishtail Palm. It was a bit smaller, but did have a full kitchen and an enormous patio. It is located on Amelia Street, just off Duval Street. It is located at the quieter end of Duval Street. It was a bit of a hike to the more active end, but it was nice being able to retreat from the chaos and actually get a decent night's sleep. It was within reasonable distance to some really excellent restaurants. I would certainly stay here again.

We stayed in one of the least expensive rooms (Peach Palm #4) which while not as spacious as some of the other rooms, was immaculate and tastefully comfortable, situated street side with a nice enclosed porch that locked securely, had nice loungers and room to stow our bicycles. The grounds are well kept. The pool area alone was a lovely little tropical escape; spotless, secluded and quiet with nice big fluffy clean towels (A nice touch was that they smelled sweetly fresh, like I had laundered them myself at home). and hot coffee poolside. Lots of tables and loungers.
Steps from Duval Street. There was window air conditioning but it worked great and in fact we slept with it off because the ceiling fan was so big and nice that once night fell it was plenty cool enough without the air on.
This is an older structure so it is possible that you may find something that isn't in perfect working order but considering the history that it harbors within its walls this should be acceptable. If you are looking for the Waldorf perhaps you should pay for that but if you want good comfortable, clean and quaint with courteous service nearest the best Key West action, for a family friendly price, this is the place. The owner and staff are super helpful. We will absolutely not stay anywhere else in Key West. Thanks guys for making our first taste of the Keys special.

Room Tip: I think the rooms in the back overlooking the pool are the more spacious rooms. If you just want a...

A very nice Bed and Breakfast for the price in Key West. We stayed in the sugar palm suite and we found it to be spacious, comfortable and quiet. The limited interaction I had with the staff found them to be very pleasent and accommodating. For instance our check out was on Friday at 11 am and I asked if it would be possible to leave my car in their lot until we wanted to leave the island later that afternoon. I was told by both the check-in and check-out person that this would not be a problem and this allowed for us to have one more fantastic lunch without the problem of finding and paying for parking.

The biggest drawback is that they do not offer complementary breakfast unlike most other B&B's we've stayed at. It would have been nice to have had the option especially after a late night on the town.
