I went with my daughter and my mother in July and we all really had a blast. The zoo is extremely well maintained and the animals seem to be well taken care of. The walkways are wide and well shaded which is a necessity in the Florida heat! (Stroller friendly too)Try to go early in the morning when the animals are more active and aren't hiding from the heat indoors. Walking at a casual pace you'll need about an hour to zip through.

A bit hard to find, but worth the effort. Being part of a University means this small zoo is a much better experience than the average commercial zoo. The "staff" are mainly students and are keen to share their knowledge of the animals, something you don't usually get.

They have a huge alligator like 11 feet and small pond where you can see snakes, turtles and frogs.

We were looking for something that would be fun for a ten month old and a sixteen year old. No easy task but mission accomplished at the Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo. There were a lot of neat animals to look at, and big and little kids alike were entertained and interested. Peacocks wandering all over campus make it a really interactive experience. We were worried that the weather would be too hot to enjoy an outdoor activity but pleasantly surprised that the tree cover kept it very comfortable at the zoo. Easy to navigate with a stroller, not too big to be overwhelming. Staff was very friendly and the spider monkeys were fun for the whole family. We spent a little over an hour there. Bring your camera. Closed toe shoes might be better because of dirt trails.
