The soups (choice of six) on the salad bar are pretty good (personally liked the harvest chicken and chili). Hard to find a place that offers refills of soup!

The rest of the food is standard bar food. The chili dogs are good and nicely filling. The onion rings are terrible - expensive, really greasy, and way more batter (tempura batter) than onion.

Food is bar food, but they have an excellent salad bar, with soups and chili to choose from. Sal is always there to make sure you are happy with your order.

My husband wanted a hamburger but didn't want to go far from home. We live 1/2 mile away from Sal's. We have not been to Sal's since it was Chomps over a year ago. The food was always good but things kind of went down over time. We noticed the new sign but hesitated to visit. We thought lunch would be a good time to go. I noticed a difference when I walked up to the glass door to enter....it was clean. We were greeted by Sibby, a friendly waitress in training. There were not a lot of people inside but the TV's were on sports channels and employees were busy getting ready for the lunch rush. The food was very good and the service over the top. They asked our opinion of Sal's and asked why it took so long to visit. We shared our experience of the past business and what was important to us as a neighborhood sports bar. The GM, Mr. McAdams came over and engaged in conversation. I got the impression that Sal's place is eager to meet the needs of those that live in the area. If you want to eat good food, watch a game on TV, play some pool and spend quality time with friends, You need to go to Sal's Place.

Sal's Place is the new restaurant in Timber Village. They have a good bar and bar food to go with it as well as steaks and a salad bar. Two primary seating areas plus a private room. Typical slow Gainesville student servers, but when things back up Sal or Jeff take care of it in a hurry. Pool tables and darts also.
