This quasi-historic hotel has a good location downtown on both the main shopping strip (Las Olas) and the river, and it has a nice old building (plus some uglier newer ones).
The other "pros" are its bar/restaurant on the river, the Boathouse, and its comfortable rooms even in the old wing: thick walls, good beds, free wifi, functioning AC/ coffeemakers/ minifridge. And recycle bins!
The drawbacks stem from a lack of attention to guest needs or wants. The bathroom was incredibly ill-designed: towel racks too high to reach, zero toiletry shelving. The lobby had no visitor info other than commercial brochures. The lounge had loud, bad piano music on the weekend. The restaurants had unprofessional, indifferent wait staff.
The basic impression is that the hotel relies on captive event guests or clueless uneducated tourists, and doesn't have to make an effort.More
