The service was very nice. We had to wait a bit to get in as the front door was locked (I would assume that guests of the Inn have keys). One of the owners let us in and also served us our high tea. He was attentive and the baked goods lovely. I am not one for little tea sandwiches, but my friend liked them a lot, especially the chicken salad. We both wished that they had extra scones for purchase. The only negative was they served Devonshire cream not clotted cream.

The setting is nice. The furniture antiques and we each got a different antique tea cup and saucer.

The English Tea service was delightful. You may choose from a variety of teas, and are given the chance to learn about the offerings, and take a smell test before ordering your pot. The finger sandwiches, scones, crumpets and tea cake were wonderful. A pleasant way to spend an afternoon in an historic old mansion. The host are fantasitc as well which made it all the ore special.

I just spent two nights at this gracious historic home in Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island. The breakfasts were wonderful and a great start to our days spent biking on the island. Location is excellent, the charming center of town starts across the street from the Hoyt House. And the hosts are the best.

Four of us enjoyed English tea today. The new owners are doing a great job ( two months)! Hoyt House was beautiful decorated for Christmas with lovely Victorian decorations. Our table was very pretty with red placemats with white Christmas cross stitching. The assorted tea cups and plates for lovely. The assortment of delicacies was prettily displayed tiered serving pates with three different tea sandwiches, all delicious, mushroom tartlet, delicious scones and crumpets, and cookies and chocolate pate choux (not sure if that is the right name) for "dessert". Each of us had one of each item. We had a lovely time in a lovely setting. Wish I had taken a picture!!
