“Humble and nice”

The View Pancake Cafe
Restaurant details
Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Driving through this beautiful area we came across the View Pancake Cafe.
We stopped and had a lovely pancake and coffee and a stunning view.
The cafe is rustic and is currently being improved.
Children's play area.
The new management is slowly doing the place up, but has managed to create a place where you feel welcome.
All the best for the future.

First impression was that the place was closed as it looked rundown and deserted. We rang the bell and eventually were surprised to be let in.
The view from the seating area was great.
The dining area was neat but we decided to just try the plain cinnamon sugar pancakes.
2 of us received pancakes that seemed to have been pre-made and heated up in the microwave, the other 2 servings seemed freshly made. The pancakes were chewy and doughy with very little sugar and cinnamon on.
A very disappointing visit and not worth the effort and drive.

Went for a bite of classic breakfast which was tasty and well done but then had one of the best pancakes ever a pepermimt caramel pancake with icecream and chocolate sauce. It was to die for didnt want it to finish. The waitress was polite and friendly and the views magnificent.

Very rustic setting, popular nonetheless. Can sit inside, or on upper level balcony overlooking Valley of 1 000 Hills, or downstairs near children's play ground.
Dress warmly - it is quite open and being located on top of the hill, can be cold. Hot drinks were good as were the pancakes. Smaller menu but suitable for families.
Parking is a problem as small area, and if no space within the venue, need to park outside on pavement.

Difficult to tell wether the establishment is open or not. Better and clearer signage would be a boost for this establishment. Although only a quarter full, service was rather slow, but the food quality made up for it, Fillings to the pancakes were delicious, but cannot say much for the coffee.
Staff attitude really needs working on. It seemed as if the staff were doing us a favour by serving us. A friendly greeting and an attitude of "this is not just a grunge"would go a long way.
Place was not the cleanest we have been in and attention should be paid to this, as well as a general spruce and clean up, and with a better staff attitude, this place could thrive ........ as long as passing folk had a better idea as to how and when to get in
