Description: Welcome to Swampy’s Bar & Grille in Dunnellon, Florida! Looking over the beautiful Rainbow River from our restaurant deck, you can enjoy and understand the inspiration which created Swampy’s. It is the raw beauty of the Florida river swamp with a few extra conveniences added – Swampy’s great food and drink. If you arrive early enough, you may observe the family of otters that swim, eat, and live right here at Swampy’s river bank. As early afternoon arrives, you view local residents and tourists lazily floating down the river in tubes, kayaks, canoes, and a few boats. As the day ends, and the sun sets, you may again observe the family of otters venture out to enjoy their river dinner, as you enjoy yours.

Shrimp and grits with sausage was amazing!!!! Fish and chips was also delicious. Batter perfectly seasoned, yummy fries and perfect cole slaw. Sat outside by the water and loved ever minute of it. Florida at its best!!! Highly recommend.

We spent the day paddling the Rainbow Springs. Before we left we talked a great deal with our outfitters regarding places to stop. Swampy's was talked about at length as a fun place to have a few adult beverages and perhaps lunch.
We were very disappointed when we finally got there. We were told that there were places to pull out and spend some time there. The only dock available had two motor boats parked there. There was no additional space for anything else.
We tried to flag someone down to ask if there was something we were missing but we were ignored. We tried a spot next to a tree but the drop off made it impossible to exit.
Traffic was very light on the river this day so I can't imagine how it would be if it was a crowded day.
For being a place more than a few people suggested we were just disappointed that it was in no way accessible.
We tried going under the bridge to pull out at a public put in and walk across the bridge. In the end we didn't feel comfortable leaving our rented equipment there out of sight.
I hope they do something in the future to make it more accessible to the many kayakers that use this beautiful springs paddle.

Early Dinner, seated quickly as they weren't too busy, Smiling Staff. Had the Ceasar salad with Mahi Mahi - good value 12.99 - Hubby had the Shrimp Poo Boy 10.99 both were delicious. Our hotel - Comfort Inn Dunnellon - had a show your key card and get a free appetizer up to $8 - we got the onion pedals - 6.99 for free and two cold Coors light drafts (happy hour) only 3.26!!!! will be back. Our server was Joel, he was very good, we sat on the deck overlooking the river... tables were clean...no bugs, kayaks going down the river, and a few boats too....fish all over, birds to watch and even say a little turtle.

We visited this restaurant based on TripAdvisor's reviews and it was a HIT!
The food is delicious and at very reasonable prices. The drinks are $3 and well prepared, the food is tasty and a hefty portion. We had the ribs and the shrimp basket, fresh and cooked to perfection. The restaurant is next to Rainbow Springs river with great views, just be aware that there are mosquitoes so spray yourself with repellent and enjoy a romantic setting.

We went because we so enjoy the food @ the sister restaurant, Crazy Cucumber, and also because we wanted outdoor dining on a beautiful afternoon. The location is great, the menu limited, the service was ridiculously slow, the food bland and tasteless. Might go back to meet friends for an outdoor beverage but definitely not to eat.
