We were finishing up a day of antiquing in Downtown Deland, and came upon this location on our way back to our car. It's off the main road, on a side street, so don't overlook it if you're looking for a fun ice cream treat.
We don't visit ice cream parlors much, so missed the concept when walking in. If you weren’t just ordering a premade ice cream novelty or something, we didn't realize the routine was to: walk to the back of the store – pick up a cup – put in a piece of brownie or cake they had available – go select your ice cream (all soft serve, in yogurt, ice cream or gelato) – put ice cream in cup (via those swirl self-serve units) – go put toppings on (oh, man, big selection of toppings!) – then weigh and pay. Warning: A place like this can be dangerous if you start creating your ultimate sundae. We didn’t even fill our cups, and paid over $4.00 each for our treats! But we did enjoy the experience – even the bathrooms, which were very clean and had cute sayings up on the wall. The tables are made from recycled doors, which we found too cool. They even had a party room for booking events. The staff was stellar! Very helpful.
The ice creams while, maybe not the best we’ve ever had, were pretty good, in taste and consistency. The toppings were a great selection, from FRESH fruits (not frozen) to little chocolate turtles and crushed nuts, to hot and cold fudge and the cakes. So much to choose from. We would return here on another visit.
