Nothing fancy, standard diner food. Good alternative to the over priced food and beverage across the street at the Hilton.

Ordered 2 salads and 2 unsweet teas to go while working the job fair yesterday. Tea tasted so wonky they probably haven't cleaned the urn in years! Undrinkable! Chef salad had fresh lettuce tomato and ham, but the turkey was grey, cucumbers old and slimey. The chicken salad had chicken that had been cooked yesterday most likely then thrown in the fryer to heat up with fish. Fishy chicken awesome! And the lettuce in that salad was brown. Don't know how this place has 4 stars?! It was plain awful and I am a local not an out of towner.

Had lunch there recently and felt compelled to write this review in hopes that the owner/management will implement some changes. On the surface the Earl Street Grill has great potential. It has a terrific location across from the Hilton and the Daytona Center. The outside has a small patio area and the inside could be easily updated into a welcoming and comfy space. Currently it is worn and also needs basic cleaning up. But I didn't go for ambience, I just wanted a decent lunch. There was only one server. Probably the same women mentioned in several of the previous reviews. They were not crowded (fortunately for me but bad for their business) so the woman was able to keep up. There also seemed to be only one person in the back cooking and he wandered in and out for smoke breaks between customer orders coming in. If Earl Street Grill wants to improve, staffing is one current weakness. The server was pleasant enough, but couldn't possibly handle any more business without problems. The menu is basic and perhaps a bit too limited. I ordered the hamburger based on the menu proclaiming them to be the specialty of the house. The burger was OK but nothing remarkable. The accompanying French fries were cold and rubbery. I also ordered a side salad and that was also "average". So although the food wasn't "bad", it wasn't anything that would make me want to return (and I didn't even though I was staying just across the street all week). I hate to see so much potential go unused. While dining I was imagining how this restaurant could be on one of the restaurant makeover TV shows. There are some relatively simple things that could be done to make Earl Street Grill a great place.

I choose this location based on the trip advisor rating and location to the Hilton which is where we were staying. It's small and homey inside which was nice. Mom and pop style restaurant. Prices were very reasonable. Service was good. I got a meat lovers omelette which was ok. They were out of country fried steak and sausage gravy because they stopped serving breakfast at 1030 which we found out after we got breakfast menus. Lol. Other food ordered was fried flounder sandwich (lots of breading) and meatball sub (good size and tasted good). I would probably explore other restaurants before going back to Earl Street but I wouldn't rule out going back.

Food was great homemade fries and sandwiches. Small quiet diner atmosphere. The shrimp tasted fresh, Reuben was great. Only negative thing is the place needs a extra staff member lady was very pleasant place just feels under staffed when busy.
