We have walked on the trails at the Withlacoochee area.

This area of Brooksville, FL and the Ridge Manor area that is nearby offers an opportunity to what Florida's nature areas are like.

One of few places in Florida that offers tubing. While the water may be cold to some, it's very refreshing and relaxing on a hot day. Arrive early to beat the crowds. Great way to spend the day enjoying Mother Nature.

Hiked the Croom trail A. This is a great multi use area. The trails are designated for hiking, mountain bikes, and equestrian. I was also told they had a motor cross section as well. There is a usage fee of $2 per person. The trail head has restrooms and water. The trail was dry and the terrain ran from flat and easy sink holes and hills! The eco systems along the trail kept changing and will hold your interest. We did not have any problems with bugs and there was plenty of shade.

Silver Lake Recreation Area in the Withlacoochee State Forest 3 miles off SR 50 near Ridge Manner will return to its serene beauty once the I-75 construction is complete in 2 years or so. Silver Lake has beautiful hiking trails, good fishing and a wonderful staff who love the forest. Camping in 2 camp grounds with utilities and one with 23 primitive sites is best during the winter months. Many campers have come there for many years so there are a lot of friends there. Come join them. You'll be glad you did. There is a busy day use area with a good boat launch as well.
