We start with what we call our kitchens mantra from Julia Child; "You don't have to cook fancy or complicated masterpieces, just good food from fresh ingredients." Our interpretation is to not get in the way of the food, let the ingredients speak for themselves. We mix this altogether with a nice selection of handcrafted cocktails (a must these days), craft brews, and wines, throw it all together in a relaxed beach cottage atmosphere, and try our best to provide you with the friendliest service we know how. Outdoor patio dining, There you have it: Shorebreak Lodge Restaurant.

Delicious fusion cooking. They also have some standard selections, but their real art is in dishes where they combine elements from different traditions: Asian, Southern U.S., Mediterranean, etc... The grilled octopus is very good, the shrimp and grits is excellent. The trick is in how they enhance the flavors of the seafood or meat with complementary flavors and textures, drawn from different cooking styles, to create something unique and delicious. You might call it “gourmet” but at the same time they’re not all hoity-toity about it. Friendly courteous waitstaff.

We didn’t have a reservation so sat at the bar. The owner was nearby and described one of the Italian white wines that was unfamiliar to us but was perfect with the sashimi tuna appetizer. We also had the grilled octopus that was delicious and the lamb meatloaf with chorizo. It was tangy and outstanding. We even splurged on the bread pudding for dessert. Eating at the bar seems to often lead to a more enjoyable relaxed meal.

We went here one night on our August beach vacation. The deviled eggs, wings & peach salad were all delicious as were the scallops. Our server was very good - & the food came fast. We will be back!

Last year we LOVED this restaurant. Everyone was happy with their meal. This year only half of the party was satisfied. The steak wasn’t seasoned well at all. Other dishes just weren’t amazing like we remembered. But all of that was nothing compared to the kids “menu”. First of all, there is no written paper for the kids menu. The waiter recites the 3 options to you. So you DON’T see prices. The options- chicken fingers, cheese burger or pasta with butter. And the price for pasta and butter... $12!!! Which you don’t see until you get the bill since the waiter doesn’t tell you that part. We remember the kids menu being pretty sad last year as well but the adult’s food was so good that it didn’t matter and was worth it. This year... the adult food didn’t make the kids worth it. Sadly we won’t be back.

We’ve been here many times. (He finally got the surf and turf after my recommendation and LOVED IT!) I had the amazing day boat scallops. The owner dropped by our table but spent more time at other tables. He was up on everything happening at the restaurant. Great Thai chicken wings and the dessert of chocolate lava were two of our favorites.
It looks like they’ve upped their game.
