This place says a lot. Lewes has and is becoming so much more than the Beach, the Canal and 2nd Street. A place like The Station at Kings could be located in almost any town, not just a "Beach" town. The Station is located adjacent to a set of train tracks... surprised?
It screams "new" and "clean" when you first walk in - and that's not a bad thing. You walk into a small shop that includes a Home/Gift selection, a bakery counter and a coffee bar. You place your order at the coffee bar and are given a table number and are then ushered into a solarium style café which is glass-enclosed on 3 sides and the roof - plenty of daylight. There were only about a dozen tables, but we were seated straight away, albeit on a Sunday afternoon in March. We were told that a garden center is being added later this year.
The food is delivered to the table using the cute little rustic table number issued with our order. The food was good and plenty of it. We ordered the Hot Roast Beef Sandwich and the Turkey & Brie Sandwich with sides of French Fries and Lemonade Fried Onion Rings. As sandwiches go, these were really good sandwiches, great fries and great onion rings. We came in hungry but were only able to eat half the order. They graciously supplied plastic containers to bring the rest home.
NOTE - if you like fried onion rings and like your food spicy hot then these might be for you. Real onion (not onion mash), deep fried with a spicy hot & tangy coating that was surprising good. Comes with a horseradish that adds to the flavor combination.
Not a vast menu. Pricing is not cheap but not crazy either. Not bad considering this will make two complete meals for us.
We are looking forward to bringing our friends.
