We were lucky enough to stay here while on a 2 Day Elephant Tour - their accommodation was not available so they put us here. Our luck!!! :)

Just amazing! I can't say enough about the room and the deck and the views but the outside shower wins overall. I even had an extra shower just to make the most of it. The people were great and breakfast was perfect (great coffee too). We sat and listened to the baby elephants across the river.

It was both a pro and con having no wifi or TV, we got to catch up on some much needed sleep in a great bed

Great stay thank you :)

Actually stayed Oct 2016 but not an option anymore

Room Tip: Just enjoy relaxing & visit the Elephant Village while there

I did lots of research into the types of places we wanted to stay for our time in Luang Prabang .. we wanted various styles of accomodation during our stay so we could mix things up while spending more time in the one town . we are a family including me, hubby, our 6 year old son and 70 plus year old father in law . We were the only people at the resort . Nothing but sound of the elephants near by. We played games , played Music read and ate. My son got very ill before we arrived and this was the perfect place for him to rest and not do much . The food was amazing at the restaurant which was a good thing since we couldn’t easily eat anywhere else .

Pros from our experience
- amazing food
- peace and tranquility
- lovely staff
- beautiful surroundings , clean , well maintained

Cons..
- if you don’t like bugs, just take a breath and relax
- not much to do for a small child or 70yr old . I misunderstood what activities were available at the resort.. only paid activities which were lengthy in time
- isolated

Thank you Laos spirit ..

The reason my wife and I chose this beaut resort was for the fact it is located out of the hustle and bustle of town. We throughly enjoyed out 3 nights and by the time we left, we certainly felt calm and a sense of equanimity. The 5 bungalows are ideal and have real character. The sweeping views over the river and one can also see the local elephant village with the occasional elephant trumpeting. The large verandah is a place where you will probably spend some time. The restaurant served flavorful and fresh food, again with smashing views and lovely staff.

This is a low-key, relaxed and to some extent getting-in-touch with nature resort, although just 20 minutes from town. We would certainly recommend Lao Spirit without hesitation.

Thanks to all for making our stay memorable.

Room Tip: Any of the 5 bungalows are fine

A truly wonderful experience is how I would describe our trip to Lao Spirit Resort. Where to start?! The location is dreamy - tranquil, beautiful, located on a river with baby elephants bathing in it; utterly charming staff, nothing too much problem, and the Manager, Vislav (phonetically spelled!) was fantastic - he even lent my boyfriend his reading glasses for the duration of our stay (ours got left on the plane!); and he drove us into town, to the airport without even charging us. The food at the restaurant was fantastic, the activities close by (trekking, riding/bathing with elephants etc etc) were well organised and offered a great opportunity to meet local villagers who were totally charming and helpful. The accommodation was beautiful - great attention to detail, tastefully and ethically decorated, and with stunning views, total comfort. Honestly, I can't think of one negative thing to stay! I am already considering taking my kids back this summer!

Room Tip: Ask for one of the bungalows which is right on the river - where you can see the baby elephants!

Lao Spirit is simply amazing. First, the location: convenient to Luang Prabang but well outside of the city, the lodge is situated on beautiful grounds overlooking occasional river traffic and adjacent to an elephant sanctuary (be sure to visit and enjoy their activities). Next, the rooms: beautifully appointed with a veranda perfect for unwinding after hectic travels. And then, the food: do not leave here without trying their Mekong river weed with jeow bong - it was a revelation! And the final note has to be for the people: Vislav (sp?) and Channy were incredibly gracious and generous hosts. They and the rest of the staff elevate Lao Spirit from 'just' a great lodge to an unqualified must-stay (and, if you need further reason to stay with them, take a moment to learn more about their education and healthcare programs for employees - this place really cares about the wellbeing of its people).

Note: We stayed at Lao Spirit in early January 2018, and respectfully disagree with the review advising travelers to avoid the cold season. We enjoyed the outdoor shower every day and didn't find our cabin uncomfortably cold at all (we didn't even touch the spare blankets, for example).
