Description: Barcelona New Haven opened in 2006 and is our largest restaurant in CT. Winner of the New Haven Advocate's "Best New Restaurant" and "Best Wine List," Barcelona is located next to the Omni Hotel in downtown New Haven just steps from Yale University. Here we have combined some of our favorite elements in a single location. A street level lounge overlooks a dining bar area with a stone fireplace. The sophisticated glass-and-steel dining room is framed by a 2000-bottle refrigerated wine cellar. The dramatic 80-seat private room is dominated by a larger than life, wall to wall, 30-foot mural of a Spanish bullfighter, and a 20-person chef's table, fashioned from a single walnut tree, borders the busy open kitchen.

The food here was absolutely incredible. We got a platter of three cheeses, the whipped sheep's cheese, asparagus, broccolini, mushrooms, potato tortilla, fingerling potatoes, and the veggie paella. And, of course, wine. Literally, everything was delicious and I would recommend it all. If I had to choose a couple things that really stood out, it would be the whipped sheep's cheese, the mushrooms, and the potato tortilla.

In addition, the service was fantastic. The servers were very subtle, and you never needed anything because they made sure your glasses were full and that your courses came out perfectly.

We went to this restaurant 3 years ago at the end of my granddaughter's 1st year and last week when she graduated.

It is a very popular place especiaĺy with the students and families of undergraduates at Yale.

The service is good and the selection of dishes will suit everyone.

We will go back when the next one graduates.

The tapas were nice, and the paella was perfect. The drink they prepared for my cousin was not, when the waiter brought a replacement drink they spilled it on her. The desserts were great as well.
