Description: Casual waterfront dining located in the Brewer's Dauntless Shipyard. A bit hard to find but defintely worth the effort. Abby's Place serves American cuisine with a flair, specializing in fresh, locally sourced meats and seafood.

Hidden in a marina a block north of Essex’s busy Main Street, Abby’s is now my favorite spot along the shore for summer breakfast. The outdoor deck overlooks the marina and CT River. The menu is not extensive but but what is on t is very good. Any place where the standard syrup is real maple syrup scores extra points with me. On top of the orange-infused French Toast - fabulous! Abby’s also has lunch and dinner some of the nights of the week during Summer. Have not yet tried it for those meals but it’s definitely on my radar to do that.

Driving up from New Haven to Cape Cod, I discovered this hidden gem in the Brewer Dauntless Marina along the Connecticut River. Abby's place serves a delicious variety of breakfasts, light lunches, full dinners, seafood, wine, and classic New England fare. The eponymous chef and owner can be seen in the Kitchen, the Bar, and chatting outside on the sunny deck overlooking the harbor. My favorite was the warm lobster roll on brioche bun. I'm planning to go back!

Food is always reliable, slightly on the pricey side for breakfast. But, you get what you pay for. French toast, pancakes, eggs all good. But the side of fruit I’ve had several times and not always totally ripe. But try it, very nice staff, clean and bright.

It was lunch time when we were leaving Essex and saw some signs for Abby's Place and decided to give the place a try and eat there. The great food was reasonable priced. Since there were many boats wrapped in plastic nearby, It was extremely difficult to see the river. This would not be a problem later on in the year. We would definitely return to this place again.

If you can find your way to the back of the marina site, you'll discover this simple but rather charming eatery with a very capable chef, Abby, at the helm. Everything we ate was carefully prepared and tasty, and the service was attentive and professional. We were there in winter, but I imagine it would be even more pleasant in the warmer months. Full bar! Fantastically clean. Excellent experience.
