We're glad you enjoyed your stay here, and hope you will return often. The welcome mat is always out!
Thanks for writing.
Our family started from Phoenix to Flagstaff AZ, from Flagstaff to Durango Co., and then from Durango to Pagosa Springs Co. then back home to Phoenix just this past week (All from 6/4 to 6/8). Wish we had just gone to the High Country Lodge & Cabins instead and surpassed everything else. Staff was great, rooms were great, breakfast was yep.. you guessed it....great, and the weather was great!!! Thank you Richard for all you guys did to make our stay feel like we were home. You guys ROCK!!! We'll be back!!!
Thanks for a great review and a great story! HCL is a great place to make the base of your explorations. Then you know when you come back at night that you have a good place to relax and recoup from all your daily adventures. So glad we were able to make your stay memorable. We look forward to hosting you again!
The cabin that we rented was clean and excellent, I met the owners and staff, this was a great place to stay! The complimentary breakfest was great. The hot tubs and grounds were maintained well. When I return to Pagosa Springs I will for sure make reservations at High Country Lodge & Cabins
Thank you for choosing High Country Lodge. We appreciate your review, and look forward to seeing you again soon!
Great place. We love coming here, nice rooms, good breakfast, friendly people, great location and no pets. My allergies thank you! Good place to relax and enjoy the hot tubs and scenery after a day of hiking.
Thank you for your great review. We're glad we were the place you came back to for relaxation after your day of hiking. We look forward to hosting you again!
As loyal and satisfied guests for over a decade, we were saddened to find out that the new owners no longer accept pets. Although the rooms, cabins, breakfast and staff have been consistently 3+ stars, and the location is ideal for everything Pagosa has to offer, I'm sad to say that we will no longer stay here. High Country Lodge, I hope you'll reconsider your pet policy. I'm sure this decision affects plenty of otherwise happy and loyal customers.
We are sorry that you are upset over our "no pet" policy. However, it has little to do with the new owners, but it does have everything to do with several very irresponsible pet owners who decided it was okay to let their dogs destroy both rooms and cabins, with damages over several thousand dollars. We had to throw away all the linens (which were new) in several rooms and cabins, pay for many extra hours of housekeeping, and even replace furniture which was chewed up. At the time we made the no pets decision, we were only charging a $125 damage fee, which did not even begin to cover the losses we sustained. Then the worst offenders bashed us on social media for daring to charge them for the damages! It was a business decision we had to make, but it was nothing against any of our responsible pet owners. As it happens in many cases, a few bad apples ruin it for everyone.
The place is beautiful and clean, their staff was very accomidating, I loved the views and ability to hike right on the property after eating their huge breakfast. My room was very peaceful and clean as well. I will be staying there for my trips from now on.
Thank you for your kind review. We will enjoy hosting you on your future trips!
