I have hiked along the trail and fished many times. This is a great trail. A little outside of town but worth the trip.

This is a beautiful hike with a nice swift waterfall at the end. The drive to the trail head is very scenic and there is ample parking next to the river. The hike is not that long and pretty easy. We enjoyed it a lot.

Following the river is fun and easy. Spectacular views while hiking an easy trail with the wife. Plenty of diversity for viewing the natural world. Can be enjoyed by all fitness and experience levels. Highly recommended.

I do this hike every year. The scenery is fantasic along the Piedra river a little north of town. Although the road is dusty, just the drive to the trail is wonderful. It will get you to other trails, a lake and Piedra Falls, but you have to keep driving north. Also, it is a great trail to walk a dog.

The drive to the trailhead is partly on paved and also dirt roads. When we went in June other than the dust it was no problem for a non four wheeler.
The hike itself is varied and scenary spectacular from rushing river to alpine meadows.
We saw several other hikers of all ages but it wasnt crowded, not a difficult hike but with a bit of a gain here and there plus 7000ft plus altitude is can be a little tireing. We turned around after about three miles.
Would recommend to anyone who enjoys nature.
