There was snow along the trail in March, but it wasn't anything that hiking poles and spikes couldn't help with. The scenery was beautiful and the frozen waterfalls were incredible. We didn't see another person on the trail the afternoon we were there.

Great hike into a rocky canyon right on the river. If you have dogs, they love to play in the river along the way!

Wandered out this way during a long weekend stay in Pagosa Springs. We wanted to do some light hiking and had pulled over to check out a cliff when we noticed this trail winding down through the hills.

We drove to the trailhead and hiked with my family and a couple of friends about 4 miles out and back.

Easy, fairly level trail leads through meadows, rock walls lined with wild roses, huge pine, and along the river. Wading is easy and we saw a family of river otters, and when we crossed the river to a sandy area there were footprints everywhere. Came across a porcupine that had somehow climbed a 70 foot cliff and made a home in a rock crevice.

The drive out was gorgeous and the hike was perfect, we had blue skies and puffy white clouds. Plenty of wildflowers in the meadows - it was incredibly picturesque. My whole family had fun, even my 8 year old daughter who is not the biggest fan of hiking. My teenaged boys wanted to hike out further.

a good, hike that can be short or long, depending on how far you want to go. We just hiked about a mile into the river canyon, which is spectacular.

We hiked this trail to the falls in the snow and found it safe and pleasant with excellent views. On the way back, we walked on the frozen river for a little added spice.
