Mixed reviews were troubling but we decided to try it out and we are glad we did! Our condo (in the Springs unit) was a 5 minutes walk from River Run gondola, and our patio walked right out to the hot tub and pool area. The "premiere efficiency" suite was a 1 bedroom suite with a full kitchen. The furniture made the condo feel crowded especially when we pulled out the sleeper sofa but we made it work by creating an awesome sofa fort for the kids.

This unit reminded us of a 1 bedroom DVC suite though maybe a little smaller.

Pros:
Great location
Very well equipped condo and property
Clean!
Very well maintained - had a "wow" moment when we opened the door!
Comfy beds
Good internet connection (dedicated per unit)
Heated pool (but we didn't have swim suits - kids were sad)
Quiet - pool noise stopped by 10:30 when they pulled the covers over the pool
Ski locker included

Cons:
A bit pricey
Tub is a little slow to drain
Our unit was maybe a little TOO close to the pool

One thing I'm not sure is if you can request a particular area. I don't remember requesting River Run nor the Springs nor did my reservation say anything about which unit we would get. It really felt like a random draw. Maybe if we do this again we will work with reservations to be more specific. Not that I'm complaining with what we got, but it did seem very much "let's see what's behind this door!" when we arrived.

Overall the property was very clean and what you would expect, lodge like feel. We had a studio which had a King size bed and a fold out sofa plus a gas fireplace. The pool was small but sufficient and within the building. We rented the condo thru KeystoneResorts which came with complimentary lift tickets for the kids, free night skiing for the family on day of arrival and a few other things. The parking is under the building which is nice but you use the shuttle most of the time anyway. The shuttle runs approximately every 20 min if its not busy. 5 min to river run and about 20 min full circle.
The Gateway lodge is about ¼ mile walk to the River Run village which is a little village with shops, restaurants and where your skiing will most likely begin. Don’t be fooled by the ¼ mile walk. At 9,000ft altitude you will be out of breath going to the bathroom.

It took about 1.5 hours to drive from Denver Airport

TICKETS:
The free ski tickets for kids don’t include the departure day, so don’t rent your kids skis for longer then you need to.

Purchase your adult tickets online before midnight the day prior or if you can 7 days in advance and save $$.

Need a place to stay for 1 night. Booked the studio w/kitchen eff. Good amount of room Better than a hotel room.
Only complaint was that the hallway smelled like grease from the diner and the refrigerator in our unit made humming noise throughout the night

Overall decent place to stay for what we needed

We enjoyed our stay at Gateway Mountain Lodge. We booked our stay through Keystone Resort. The room was not much bigger than a hotel room but had two queen (or possibly double) beds, a daybed, table and chairs, and another chair and ottoman for relaxing. Nicely stocked kitchenette - toaster oven, panini press, griddle, etc. Definitely saved money on not having to constantly eat out. The building itself has plenty of amenities in it like a little grocery store, a cafe and more. Pool was a little small but decorated in a cute beachy theme. Free shuttle out front runs every 20 minutes but it was only a 10 min walk (with 2 kids and all our gear) to River Run. Only compliant was housekeeping was not the best - some garbage left in the garbage can under the sink and some food left in the fridge. Overall very happy.

The building has received new siding, all of the decks have had their walls replaced with metal railings so the views of the mountain have improved, the pool and hot tub have been renovated. A big problem before was that the hallways and the pool were really hot and stuffy. That has been completely eliminated. You used to be able to smell the pool in the lobby, no longer. The lobby looks great. The elevators have been re-done, and the garage doors. This is not a hotel, so your stay depends on the quality of your individual unit and its property manager. I rented through Keystone, which requires certain standards in furnishings, mattresses, televisions. I had a 4-BR, with granite countertops, full kitchen down to a food processor, mattresses feel new, 5 flat-screen televisions, two decks, great views. It is so much cooler here than in Denver!!
