Went to Smoke yesterday only because they carried non-alcohol beer in contrast to the touted Pullman and the Brewpub. When will restaurants learn that a lot of people love beer as a beverage of wonderful complexity but HATE alcohol! Be that as it may, we went to Smoke not expecting a whole lot but were pleasantly suprised. The bbq here is really really great! Deeply smoked that permeates the pork shoulder and beef brisket yet done so that the meat retains its tenderness and juiciness. Best we've had outside of Houston many years ago. Plates were too much food for us so my wife had a pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries and I had a brisket sandwich with same fries. Each sandwich on an interesting bun that was tasty in itself and did'nt fall apart. Both were topped with a nicely dressed slaw, the pork was accompanied by sliced red onion and really delicious kosher dill pickle slices. Tried all six sauces on the table. All were good but the XXX was best, right tang of vinegar, tomatoish bakground, and just rught spiciness. No room for dessert! Service was prompt, friendly, non- intrusive. Recommend fir the vg food AND the fact that they carry NA beer!
