If anyone says this is easy, they're wrong...particularly when there is snow and ice on the trail. The handrail along the last few steps of the trail are useless if you should slip.

This hike is a short steep 1 mile uphill hike. The falls at the top are very nice, especially in the late spring and early summer. It is often crowded, so be warned!

Go during the week to avoid the weekend warrior crowds. Dogs are not allowed, which is understandable once you reach the lake. Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous! A little steep at first, but an overall easy hike that won't take up your entire day. This hike can be done during any season.

I used to take my kids on this trail...they loved it. You start out in the bottom of beautiful Glenwood Canyon and climb up a narrow side canyon. It's not particularly difficult. At the top you come upon water shooting out of the mountain rock and forming natural rimstone pools. The water is actually coming from a cave that opens up on the canyon wall.

Short and sweet. Not easy, but not an all day taxing event either. Come early, linger and back before you know it. Take water, lunch and camera. If you have ever seen bluer water in the state of Colorado, tell me - I want to go there. I'm 60 years old and live in coastal Virginia, and made the hike with hiking boots and poles - great for help pulling up my old body on the way up and providing balance on the way down; collapsable poles fit in my checked baggage (doubt TSA would allow them in your carry-on). Well worth the hike. Hiking in very dry Colorado beats hiking in humidity any day of the week. When you get to the top enjoy a leisure lunch with the scenery and the sun. Take some pictures, people won't believe you've gone to heaven and returned.
