Went to Lucky Joe's on the most recent St. Patrick's Day, a somewhat chilly and overcast afternoon. The staff was attentive and seemed to be really hustling as it was kind of busy. Free peanuts and the Colorado State men's basketball game versus University of Nevada was on multiple TV's. Doorman a decent guy who I carried on a conversation with to get some fresh air. I did not eat the food so I can not comment on that. Excellent location in Old Town Square, Fort Collins.

I remember going to Lucky Joe's back in the 90's when it was known as Old Towne Ale House. Now, it's the same building but definitely much more louder, more raunchier and 'college-focused.'
The few times I've been here, the music is almost always too loud. It's hard to carry on a conversation without having to resort to yelling. The beer selection is average at best; pretty much your typical low-cost American Adjuncts with a smattering of microbrews.

The place bills itself as "Irish." Funny, how anyplace that throws up Irish swag on the walls or shelves and serves Guinness is...Irish. Please. It's a typical ruckus college bar that serves peanuts out of a barrel, with pathetic beers and a schizophrenic array of Irish themed rubbish on the walls so it can dub itself 'Irish.'

Though in hindsight, it's a great place to get drunk without regard.

This was our 2nd visit to Lucky Joe's and we had good food and decent service. You can nibble on peanuts while you wait and chuck the shells on the floor if you like.

We've been visiting Lucky Joe's for almost a decade. We go in spurts - sometimes we're there once a week and sometimes we go months without visiting.
It's always a great atmosphere, a bit Colorado, a bit Irish, a bit brewpub. The beer is affordable and the peanuts are free. The food is also pretty darn good - we like the nachos and the sandwiches.
Sometimes there's live music - we haven't had a great experience with that... the music is generally in the range of okay to weird, and always too loud to talk over. So, if it starts mid-visit and you're not thrilled, just call it a night and head somewhere else.

Always have a great time at Lucky Joe's. They often have great live entertainment. Can get a bit crowded on weekend, but what great bar doesn't? :)
