Dear Elaine,
It's upsetting to receive such a distressing review. We do our best to be transparent with our pet policies on every website, and when travelling with a pet, it is your responsibility to check on the hotel's policies regarding pets. Ironically, you work for another Choice Hotel as a front desk clerk, and you of all people should know and respect this.
We have specific pet rooms that are located on the first floor. They all have convenient walk-out patios, are well maintained, are very clean, and have all the same amenities as our other rooms, with the addition of a patio. Because this room type has a patio as an addition to the other amenities, it is considered an upgrade and is $10.00 more. An incident report was filed by the Manager on Duty that evening regarding your check in experience. You refused to pay an additional $10 to accommodate your dog and demanded that we accommodate you in the room of your choice. You stated that you worked for another hotel, and that you were entitled to special privileges.
You have been advised to review the guidelines set forth by Choice Hotels regarding policies for Employee rates and these policies include you. After your very unpleasant words, you were asked to leave and were told that your employee reservation privileges would be revoked at this property. So – you not only violated the policies set forth by Choice Hotels, you demanded that this hotel violate our pet policies.
In closing, please be respectful - no matter where you are. Review the Employee rate policies in Choice Central and accept that hotels have policies in place for a reason, and you are not exempt.
