We booked this hotel through priceline and called the day before to confirm the stay. We chose it because it looked quaint and old fashioned and just kind of neat. Looks are deceiving! The sign in the front says "3 generations"and they should give it up. The guy at the front desk asked what price we were quoted because he could not find it. Well, I could not find my email confirmation and didnt want to lie, so I said I wasn't sure but that it was under $100. He gave us a key and said to go ahead and go to the room and he would find the correct fee. We went to eat and came back and had to ring the bell, yell and finally call by cell phone the number of the hotel to get him to come to the front desk. Then he thought he had us and told us double the cost! Needless to say we left. I am all about supporting the small businesses, but when they try to screw people- I have no respect for those businesses. We stayed at the comfort inn & suites for less than the price he gave. This also included free breakfast and indoor pool. Amenities that the caboose motel dont have.

We were warmly greeted and check in was done very efficiently and we were a large group. They were very accommodating. The rooms were great, it was clean. They have nice outdoor space to sit and enjoy the beautiful weather. Great location because we could walk to eat.

Room Tip: rooms 1 & 2 were recently renovated.

This seemed a good value when we booked it compared to other hotels in the area. It is an older, local hotel, with a steep sloping driveway, so parking is very limited for motorcycles.
The owners were quite rude upon check in. We asked about food recommendations, they said just look in the book in the room, which was of minimal help. There is NO shampoo, and only tiny little bars of soap, When we asked about shampoo, we were told to go to the grocery store.
The A/C worked well, despite it being a wall unit in the window. The heater is separate, and was filthy. The bed was ok, minimal shower pressure, tiny towels.
No decaf coffee either - FYI.

I stayed at the Caboose Motel in Durango, Colorado with my wife & teenage son. Durango was the halfway point of a long drive so we decided to stay for a night in Durango & wanted something reasonably priced. I found the Caboose Motel through Trip Advisor & booked a room for a Saturday night. It’s a small motel but nice & quaint. Check in was quick & the guy helping us was very friendly & gave us some tips on where to eat. Our room was small but clean with comfy beds & the AC worked great.

We were very happy with our night at the Caboose Motel & really enjoyed Durango. We plan to go back to spend more time iexploring the town & would have no problems staying here again. It would be great if they had a pool but not a big deal. It’s not fancy or super modern but it’s well priced & just a cool place. We definitely felt welcomed there.

Had a quick one-night stay in Durango and loved this place. Yes, its older, yes, its not as 'flashy', but loved the family ownership and "buying local". We lucked into getting a "suite" which was a standard hotel room with very small room separated by a curtain with a twin bed and TV. Perfect for our 8 yr old who love having "his own room". Staff was wonderful and we'd stay again.

Also, we arrived a few hours early and so we went and had lunch. When we came back (about an hour before "official" check-in) they apologized that the room wasn't ready yet and the housekeeping staff were literally RUNNING to finish our room. This was on us, not them, but they worked like mad to accommodate us. Great service.

Room Tip: Room 8 was fantastic.
