Walter, Jodi, Norma, and Tracey (and Anya the lab!) became our good friends over the three nights we stayed at the beautiful Country Sunshine. This group should give master classes on what it means to exceed expectations for guests!

My two middle-school aged daughters and I stayed at the CSB&B in July, 2017, during a long Southwestern Colorado road trip. Now that some time has passed, I asked my girls to identify their favorite experiences on the trip (and there were many). They both chose Mesa Verde for the activity, and the CSB&B for the overnights. It's easy to understand why:

- The rooms are beautiful and professional decorated by the talented Norma, who was a full-time designer in her pre-B&B management career.
- The grounds and facilities are stunning, impeccably cared for, and wonderful to experience.
- The breakfast, prepared with precision and expertise by Walter, Jodi, and the staff, is so very wonderful. Always prepared from scratch with healthy ingredients and served artfully either indoors or outdoors (birds galore!), weather permitting.
- The evening desserts were outstanding, and we availed ourselves of the freely-given recipes to recreate these masterpieces at home.
- Best of all: the conversations with our new CSB&B friends. From discussions around the latest in nutrition research, to room design tips from Norma to my daughter, the talk was so much fun.
- Last but not least...Anya, the very talented lab, delivered "Anya-grams" to my girls each night. She would show up with dog-mom Jodi, lights flashing on her collar, and treat the girls to little gifts they treasure and show off to this day. So much fun.

We can't wait to return to the CSB&B and the greater Durango area. This place has my highest possible endorsement!

We stayed here three years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it, so it was a no brainer to return on our way home from Montana. Jodi and Walter are great hosts, who strive to make every guest feel special. Their sweet black lab (Anya?) helped too, by delivering an anniversary card to our breakfast table one morning. (We think Kristyn helped Anya remember, possibly from our prior visit.) The breakfasts and evening desserts are unequaled anywhere -- and we have stayed at over 190 B&Bs in the last 15 years. Of course, the view from the porch during breakfast is without comparison, as well. Wildlife is abundant in the area and the humming birds are a delight to watch during breakfast, too. One of my favorite experiences during breakfast was the sound of the steam locomotive passing nearby on its way to Silverton from Durango. We both feel qualified to say that this is one of the best B&Bs west of the Mississippi. We just wish it wasn't over 2000 miles from home.

Room Tip: We loved the Pine Room, which is on the main floor and very convenient.

We had the pleasure of returning to our all-time favorite B&B... in the whole country. Jodi and Norma met us at the door with open arms and and a wonderful welcome. The Aspen room was so comfortable, beautifully appointed and accessorized. Sleep quality is excellent, and the shower is great. We enjoyed the complimentary wine while watching the numerous humming birds, Abert's squirrels, deer and other abundant wildlife from the nice deck overlooking the well landscaped grounds. The ambiance of the property is outstanding with interesting art, a library and mountain themed decor. But the real treasure is Walter who is an exceptional culinarian. His breakfast and evening dessert creations are simply to die for. I managed luxury destination resort hotels and hired great chefs, so my praise of Walter and Jodi's kitchen is based on some experience. You will love the gourmet treats and the warm hospitality at Country Sunshine. Recommended!

I recently booked the Country Sunshine B&B, all 6 rooms, for a family and friends reunion. I had previously booked 3 rooms a few years back and it was an easy choice to try it again. We had a great time again, and couldn't have enjoyed the B&B more, Walter & Jodi, the proprietors, go out of their way to ensure that you. 1. like your room 2. Love your breakfast 3. give you great advice on things to do. 4. make great cookies. 5. have beer in the fridge 6. make a great evening desert. 7. keep the grounds beautiful 8. always have tea and coffee available. On top of that they are just genuine good people. Who else would give you a card on your birthday, or make your wife a cake on her 60th, or even pour their own champagne for a toast? Answer: No one. Now this was a special occasion. but you get the point. Exceptional care and service if your renting one room or six. All the rooms are nice, the house well appointed, and the Colorado air is reviving to a desert dweller. So you won't go wrong here. When we're in the area, we will always stop by.
