Good food. Great service. Lots of unique Latin American options. Had chiliquiles and short rib asado. Fun atmosphere.

Although we found the food to be hit-or-miss, the nice thing about the tapas-style approach is that if something isn't great, you move on to the next thing pretty quickly. Some dishes -- the empanadas, the duck meatballs, and the short rib (oh my goodness the short rib) -- are incredible, others -- the blackened fish tacos, for example, are just OK. But the space is amazing, the drinks were great, the staff was attentive but not intrusive, and the service was efficient. For us, it was those things that pushed this from "average" into "very good." Definite gluten-free and lactose-free options.
Loved the brick walls, high ceiling and minimalist deco of the "shotgun" style architecture. We arrived early for our dinner reservation and ordered from the happy hour menu. We had reduced price margarita, sangria and beer along with two different and delicious empanadas and a beet salad. The happy hour menu is extensive and excellent value. For dinner, one member of our party had drumettes with mole rojo that was delicious but would have been more enjoyable with a different part of the chicken. The shrimp and grits were delicious as was the chilaquiles, which were the best we have had since dining on them in Puerto Vallarta. For dessert, we had the salted Marcona almond brittle with blood orange caramel that was a tasty combination of salty and sweet. The staff was friendly and made sure to ask if we wanted to order anything else before happy hour ended.
The menu at Leña is fantastic, with a great array of cold, hot, and grilled dishes from a wood-fired white oak grill (their specialty). We loved the tacos, the chilaquiles, and the empanadas–but the empanadas were beyond Good, they were phenomenal. If you’re in the mood for empanadas, tacos, or grilled meats, you won’t go wrong at Leña. It is all Great!
Saw a bunch of excellent reviews, and they were justified. Every dish was terrific, especially the rib tacos and shrimp dishes. Pleasant wait staff, nice setting and a five-minute walk from The Mayan. Price was right for such well-prepared fare. The only disappointment was a less-than-perfect pisco sour.
