Ok, let get something out of the way: if you're expecting some sort of typical American restaurant atmosphere, this place isn't for you. If you're one of those people who freak out at the idea of a "hole-in-the-wall" type of place, this place isn't for you. But if you're into authentic Chinese food in a typical Chinese food restaurant...you have come to the right place.
I love this place. Probably because I spent quite a few years living in Shanghai so now I miss that typical Chinese restaurant feel, but yeah, this place gets me. The server is nice, friendly and efficient. I find it comforting that it is never busy when I go there and you can find Chinese family just having a dinner there together.
Best deal if you're there with a few people and want to try something: go for the dinner deal. I think you get 3 dishes with rice for a set price and it's a pretty extensive menu to choose from.
Personal favorite dish of mine are the noodles. Just egg noodles, some bok choi, add in BBQ pork or duck and delicious broth, you can't go wrong. And for around $6, that's a steal and a half. Forget those stupid fancy yuppie places in Lohi (a certain ramen restaurant come to mind with a ridiculous wait time), this is what a bowl of noodles should be. Seriously, just go for the noodles!
Notes: so if you're not used to Chinese food, be wary of the BBQ duck. It has bones in it. I have seen way too many white friends struggle with this so I thought I should make a PSA. Also the beef noodles, if you are not use to having chunk of beef fat/tendon floating in your noodles, don't get it. It's quite...rich.
