Rio Celeste Hideaway is the place to stay in this region. The large, well appointed villas are placed around lush greenery, giving your room the feel you're in the middle of the jungle. The rooms are large but a bit dark. My main complaint is that the mattress was far too firm. The outdoor shower area was amazing - and it was a nice touch to have a dehumidifer in the room. The pool area is fantastic and a nice place to relax after a long drive or visiting the nearby waterfalls.

The dinner menu is small, and you don't have many options. It's a set 3 course menu plus a juice for $43/person. Despite the price being high I have no complaints about the quality of the food. Ceviche was particularly outstanding. The breakfast on the other hand was just average. Speed of food service was a bit slow.

We traveled during Dec 2020 so covid precautions were a concern before staying. Upon check in we were asked to wash our hands, food service and front desk staff wore masks and most of the front dest communication was via Whatsapp to reduce in person interactions. They asked for dinner reservations to try and minimize the number of people dining at any one time.

Overall it was a romantic and relaxing stay. Definitely worth staying more than one night to take advantage of all they have to offer. The small trail just off property is also worth venturing out to explore.

First off the staff was exceptional! Anything you needed they tended to immediately.....the villas were very spacious, the outdoor shower was the best part .....loved sitting out on the porch looking into the jungle everyday and trying to spot animals. Absolutely would recommend....the only thing I wish they had was a hot tub on the terrace in the rooms and the pool heated....it gets chilly in the mountains and the pool was very cold, other than that it's perfect!

If your in the edge of booking this place JUST DO IT! This hotel goes above and beyond to make sure you love your stay. Their food is out of this world! The rooms, oh my gosh, they are STUNNING! Right on the river and close enough to walk to the waterfall. They even had a driver take me all the way back to the airport! Will return again! Get the chicken curry!

Absolutely stunning property and what a complete surprise to stumble upon this in the middle of nowhere!

The staff was outstanding from Kenneth and Oscar at front desk to Cristian (for my tasty veg sandwich!) and KATHERINE at Kantala .. who took care of decorating the table for a bday celebration.

The lobby, rooms, restaurant etc are very VERY tastefully designed and decorated with furniture from Bali. A lovely central koi pond with plants in the middle .. and amazing lush greenary.. plus a spacious game room with a foosball table and pool table.

Room / Cabin
A very large, oversized room with 2 queen beds, an outdoor and indoor shower, a lovely balcony and tastefully decorated Indonesian furniture .. and a couch..very stylish.
Very private and quiet ..!

There are 2 short trails to the falls from the hotel grounds.. I only wish we could have stayed longer. We only got to spend a night here.. and it rained most of the time sadly.

This stay was the highlight of our trip.

We felt very safe staying here during covid times. Currently they are at 50% capacity. They wait an additional day before turning over rooms so that they are safe for the next guests. Staff are almost always wearing masks (the only staff I saw without masks were landscaping). Tables at the covered outdoor restaurant are distanced appropriately.

Each room is its own bungalow which felt very private. The rooms are large with seating area and a covered patio where you can sit outside even during the rain. The bed was too firm. There is a dehumidifier in the room which really makes a difference. The toilet gave off an unpleasant odor. The bathroom is huge and the outdoor shower is lovely.

The food is overall pretty good. Currently they offer a fixed dinner menu for $44 USD per person. This includes a frozen juice, appetizer, entree and dessert. This is overpriced but the alternative dining options are very limited and nowhere near as nice. Their ceviche is the best thing we ate our entire trip. The steak was great, pesto fettuccine with mussels was really good and the chicken curry was good. Don't get the cheesecake as they use some different type of cheese and it tastes off. Dinner ambience is very nice. The server on our second day could've been more attentive.

The pool area is a quiet oasis. The lounge chairs are appropriately distanced. There are 3 hot tubs but only one actually had hot water. You can often see monkeys in the trees from the pool area.

There is a really nice trail from the hotel property to the Rio Celeste where you can swim or soak your feet in the blue water. We had the trail and riverside area to ourselves.
