Description: At FIG & OLIVE, we want to highlight our menu’s core ingredient of olive oil, which we use in place of butter in our dishes. From a sweet and delicate olive oil from the French Riviera that pairs well with a Steamed Lemon Sole Papillote to an assertive Spanish Picual or a Tuscan olive oil that holds its own with Seared Salmon with Fennel and Green Olives, and a green-fruit Provence olive oil that we serve with a Green Apple Sorbet. Our cuisine along with an elegant white, green and terra-cotta décor immerse our guests into the essence of the Mediterranean region.

We found ourselves in this area on a Saturday evening and we were immediately seated. They have convenient valet parking ($10). We were early so it wasn't very crowded - the music was quite loud and we asked for it to be turned down - which it promptly was. Before our starters arrived we received bread with three types of olive oil. Our starters included the mushroom crostini - perfectly made and the mushrooms were fabulous. We also ordered an eggplant tapenade - also fantastic. All of the mains were generous portions - the Tajine was very tasty - the Branzino was an excellent piece of fish properly cooked - and the Chilean Sea Bass was also fantastic. All of our dishes were excellent and we will be back - they also seamlessly made adjustments to fit our dietary restrictions. Our server was wonderful and attentive.

Although like most restaurants these days, the background music played in the Fig & Olive is too loud and very unpleasant (and certainly not conducive to a dinner time conversation), the food is...just exquisite. The olive oils brought out to begin the meal are beyond delicious -- a range of grassy, peppery, mellow. The small plates are beautiful to look at and mouth-wateringly good. This is a pricey place -- but worth every penny for its tastes, its range of dishes, and even its great cocktails. Highly recommended.

I last visited a couple of years ago and thought it was busy, bubbly and fun. Something has taken a turn for the worse.

Drinks were promptly ordered but took ages, and the cocktail was missing its main ingredient. Bread was requested and arrived the third time. Wine was chosen. It didn't arrive either. Eventually, 'Sorry, we can't find that one.' Another was chosen. A while later, 'Sorry, we don't seem to have that either.' The wine list isn't huge and these weren't rare wines. Finally, 45 minutes after arriving, so did our wine. The food seemed to take a lifetime too. Olive oil was accidentally spilt on one of us when clearing plates.

The smiling server did her best, and the manager kindly waived the bill, but ten guests were unimpressed. Needs work.
