I called in advance to say I had a small dog and would need a pet-friendly room. I also verified that the room would have both a microwave and a refrigerator. It was raining and cold and so even if there were pet-friendly restaurants they wouldn't have the pet-friendly sections open so it is a must to be able to eat in-room.

When I arrived the desk person was surprised when I reminded her that I had a small dog. The only pet friendly room she could offer me was old, had old beds, had stained carpeting, smelled of chemicals, and had no microwave (there was a refrigerator). The restaurant was closed (Sunday evening). She did let me know where to find a grocery store.

The property is cute in the middle because of the garden but the rest is all asphalt.

Perhaps the other rooms are better. They charge $25 per night for a small dog. Maybe they could use that to clean up the carpeting from prior accidents (not from my dog!) and get new beds.

Well it is obvious you didn't have a good experience which I regret very much. I must clarify one issue and that is we charge $25.00 for a pet but not each day just a $25.00 flat fee. Had you let us know of your unhappiness we would of course have tried to work something out for another room. Our garden area is quite beautiful and all our garden rooms (about 48) overlook the lush gardens and pool area which is rather extensive . Our standard rooms are located at the North end of our property and yes the rooms look over our parking lot but there are trees, flowers and shrubs planted along the sidewalk in front of the rooms which deflect from the asphalt which you failed to mention . Once again I am sorry you had a bad experience .

Very clean, well-kept hotel. Gardens and landscaping were beautiful and lit by inviting lamplight at night. Friendly staff were very helpful, including a security guard that walked the property after dark. The owner and gardener even helped my 6 year old daughter pick some oranges, which was one of the highlights of our trip. The onsite restaurant also had a very good breakfast and welcoming staff.

What a great place to stay. Excellent coffee shop ,close to everything, free shuttle
The grounds are as beautiful as everything else . I highly recommend for overnight or extended stay. The staff at this place is unbelievable, If you want for anything at this place it's your own fault. Old fashioned service

Clean and well looked after place.. Rooms good size, nice clean big pool area. Not too noisy with the freeway close and walking distance to a heap of shops and fast food. Only thing we were at the very back of the property behind the pool and the WiFi could not pick up, we were told we had to be next to reception to get coverage. Not a big deal though.

Room tip: Get a room close to reception to be able to connect to the WiFi

Come and enjoy a friendly staff, manicured grounds with a 60's appeal of clean and well maintained facilities.
The Cafe-Restaurant offers plentiful and tasty selections, from engaged and attentive servers.
Though the December weather did not allow us to enjoy the spacious swimming pool, I can see how summer plunges after a day at Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Park would be the 'ultimate'! The rooms are adequate and the rate is reasonable.
A few caveats - the thermostat in our room did not function making the heat be either ON or OFF :-( and as I type this review - the WI-FI is intermittent, though we are close to the lobby. Brewing coffee in the room carafe creates an undrinkable cup of 'medicinal tasting' brew - the water? :-( Walk to the lobby and they keep a pot of coffee on for you! And finally after a day of travel you'll fall fast asleep, but be aware that the the construction will allow you to be awakened by the bodily functions, through the night, of the guests in the adjacent rooms - and Mineral King carries audible traffic 24-7. And thus you have it, this place may become a habit :-)

Room tip: Other reviewers stated to opt for the court-yard rooms near the lobby and facing the pool/garden area - we concur!
