“Best Wine Tour in San Diego”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 January 2012

Destination Wine Tours is the best tour for guests staying in the San Diego area. We learned so much about San diego on our drive to Temecula. Dave has a passion for his city and more so for wine. We enjoyed Temecula Old Town, lunch at our first winery, the beautiful countryside and learning so much about wine and wine tasting. Thank you Dave for making our tour memorable.

“Undiscovered beautiful fun wine country”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 November 2011

Temecula has a lot to offer the tourist and would be resident. Californians come to Temecula to get married as there are many fantastic venues in the wine country or in charming country houses with views of the mountains and lovely landscapes. The wine country is smaller than Napa and Sonoma but as nice and the many wineries offer great restaurants, wine tasting, balloon rides, spa treatments, venues for all sorts of occasions and wonderful strolls. Temecula's Old Town has the character of the Old West much like Old Town Sacramento. There are many festivals throughout the year and the City is active in improving tourism. People come to gamble at the Pechanga Casino, which also offers entertainment and nice restaurants. Temecula is growing. There will be a new hospital and new housing is going in. It is a family friendly place with lots of sports fields, top standard equestrian events and horse lodgings, good shopping, lots of good restaurants, a few local dramma theaters, beautiful neighborhoods and its own history museum. There are many good services that one would find in Orange County and the commercial centers seem to be fairly new. They are in complexes of handsome new buildings with stone facing and stucco in more of a Western modern ranch style but mixed with mediterranian aspects. Vail Lake is nearby and offers camping. Mountain ranges surrounding the valley offer balloon travelers great views, especially in winter when snow covers the mountains. The closest mountain resort is probably on San Jacinto - Idyllwyld, a small, charming village. Fallbrook with its avocado fields is next door. The drive to San Diego is about an hour, to the coast is about 40 minutes, to Palm Desert is about an hour and to Orange County also about an hour. The back route to the desert is drammatic, taking you up to Anza and winding down into the desert valley near Palm Desert.

Summers are not quite as hot as in Palm Springs but much hotter than on the coast. Temperatures from June - October can get into the 90-100 ranges. Winter days can be warm in the 70's but cold at night. Rains are heavy and there can be wind, especially in May. The climate is very mixed so that one has the impression of four seasons, however there is rarely any snow. The landscape is high desert and has a distinctive look and some people say that it does not seem to be part of southern California. However the climate supports a wide range of agricultural land. Temecula produces its own wine, olive oil, honey, citrus, lavender and a host of other crops that are sold in stores in Old Town. Palomar Observatory offers some educational visits and star gazing as the night skies are great for viewing stars.

Temecula is a fun place to visit and a nice place to live. It is growing and has a population determined to constantly improve the area.

“Absolutely Great Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 October 2011

My husband and I highly recommend this tour. It was wonderful. We visited 3 different types of wineries with a lot of varieties of wine. We bought some at each winery. All of the employees at each winery were VERY friendly. Dave was a great guide and very accomodating. Lunch outside at one of the wineries was so pleasant. The view was wonderful. This tour is well worth the money.

“Great Time!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 September 2011

My sister and I went to San Diego for a sister trip and we wanted to go on a wine tour. After researching I decided on Destination Temecula and we have no regrets. Dave picked us up at the Hyatt La Jolla right on time and was very knowledgeable about the area. We had a great time in Old Town Temecula however we did wish we bought some olive oil the lemon was my favorite highly recommend doing a tasting there. After Old Town we hit up three wineries and had a great lunch. I promise you will have a great time on this tour we sure did and I believe everyone else on the tour did as well.
