I was looking for a place to stay for one night while visiting a friend at a nearby home on the lake. This place was perfect. It has a very traditional 1950s, almost David Lynch "Twin Peaks" feel to it, with authentic wood paneling, quilted bed sheets and all the basic amenities you'd anticipate. I found it to be exactly what was needed for a visit to Lake Tahoe. The wall heater was super efficient for the cold night and the shower was piping hot within minutes. I will stay here again when the need arises. For the rate, this is a great little place. The folks who run it are very friendly too.

Room tip: run the water just a bit in the morning so hot water gets to your room that much quicker

There may be a “Twin Peaks” look to the Poker rooms, but nothing unsettling is lurking beneath the surface.

This was our second stay at this hotel and it was only for one night. I want to be clear that I was staying in the cheapest room available. This place is fine for one night, but I wouldn't stay longer, if I did, I would have to try out one of the more expensive rooms because the walls in the cheap rooms are paper thin. You can't just hear that people are talking next door, you can make out every word. Other than that, the rooms are fine. They are a little rustic and dated, but they have what you need including tv, hairdryer, mini fridge and coffee maker. Parking is convenient right outside the door. This is the only relatively cheap option we have been able to find on the west shore of Tahoe on the weekend, so we will likely be back. Wifi works well.

Thanks for staying with us again, and for reviewing us a second time. While we don’t get too many complaints about noise emanating from neighboring Poker rooms, the walls are pine not concrete, and sound will pass through them. Mutual respect usually keeps everyone happy, but like most places, noisy neighbors will be heard. Call the office if there is a problem. If we don't know about it, we can't resolve it. More often people tell us they like the Poker rooms because it is so peaceful on the back of the property. Next time rent one of our Deluxe Cabins – also on the back – and get the best of both worlds.

When we brought a group of 27 people to Tahoe to ski, staying at Tamarack Lodge was a total boon for our trip. The staff (and Gerard in particular) were extremely helpful, and made exceptional accommodation for us, even when we had to drop a couple of rooms, and when we arrived and checked in late due to bad traffic coming to Tahoe via I-80. Throughout it all they were perpetually warm and friendly. I have only accolades for those folks.

As for the facilities themselves, they are very nice--clean, well maintained, and comfortable. A great asset for our large group was the "Lodge" room, which was big enough to sleep 6 people easily, and provided a good spot for all of our skiers to congregate in the mornings. The location is also great, being just a 15 minute drive from Squaw Valley (in good traffic).

Room tip: The Lodge room is great for large groups.

What a lovely surprise! We were expecting Tamarack Lodge to be quite basic but arrived to find that the room we had book had recently been updated, it was lovely, really cosy with a shiny new kitchen and all the cooking equipment that you could need. The owner was really welcoming and in the evening made a fire for all the guests to sit around in the outdoor fireplace (which has a fascinating history, you must ask about it). This was our first trip to Tahoe (and my first time in America) and it was just magical. We only stayed here one night as it was the last day of labour day weekend and we had already booked somewhere else to stay after, but I would have happily stayed here the whole time. Fully recommend it.

Room tip: Book the new room!

Thank you Team Tamarack Lodge for your gracious hospitality and kindness during our visit. This was our third stay in three years in your picturesque cabins and we were not disappointed! Gerard and the team were incredibly welcoming, helpful and generous in creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for us. The fire and the outdoor barbecue did not go unappreciated and we love the charm of this treasure! We can't wait for next year, see you then! X
