My wife and I started here on our trip down the Pacific Coast Highway. Having done Napa but not Sonoma, we were looking for a nice place to crash after wine tours before we hit route 1. The grounds here are stunning. The cottages are nicely appointed and the fireplace is a great touch. The pool (heated) and hot tub were popular even in 48 degree weather. The lodge is a stunning place to sit and sip coffee, which they make available in the lobby. A gigantic fireplace in the main lodge is warm and welcoming. Tranquil. Evening wine tastings showcase local wineries. The staff is very helpful and the valet gets to know you quickly!

A couple of things about the hotel that I don't quite understand - they charge $17/night for parking even though there is ample parking on the property. They also charge a $32 resort fee year around. While the hotel offers morning yoga, a daily hike and wine walk, I'm not sure I fully understand the resort fee, especially while they are working on updating the grounds and many of the outdoor seating areas are out of commission. I was particularly befuddled by the parking fees, given that you don't have to pay to park anywhere else in Sonoma.

Overall a great stay and a wonderful start to our trip down the PCH!

We are locals, and have visited hotel over the years for meals or events, but never stayed. To make a long story short, the staff went out of their way to make something work for us, and they had to go out on a limb to do it. Very impressed. I always wonder why businesses spend so much time and money trying to attract new customers, but when the have one in front of them, they seem indifferent to making any special effort to make that customer happy. Not here, they really understand and value customer service, and building a good reputation. Thanks Elizabeth and others who made our day! We will be sending you all the business we can in the future!

This is a great hotel. It is beautifully decorated, immaculate and has very nice grounds. The property is about 1 mile from Sonoma Square. The front desk greeted us with champagne and there were complimentary tastings held in the lobby both evenings we were there.
There is a nice lounge with a pub type menu which was just fine for us the day we arrived.

Room Tip: There are cottages on the property as well. We stayed in a luxury room which was larger than the cot...

This hotel is beautiful and dog friendly! Our cottage was spacious with a frig and fireplace-note the upstairs cottages have a large flight of stairs (no elevator) so if you have any physical issues lugging up suitcases I would ask for a ground floor cottage. The large stall shower has no hold bars or seats so shaving your legs can be challenging but is is bright and modern. The shuttle is awesome and the drivers were so friendly. I also liked the wine tasting from 430-6 held by different wineries. We met people from everywhere in the bar and it was really fun to hang out there. On NYE the bar got full close to midnight which the staff was not anticipating but they handled it wonderfully and I would not have even known- they were passing out tiaras, hats and noise makers and really made it feel festive. There are extra resort fee’s and $100 dog fee which made it pretty pricey which is why I did not give it 5 stars but keeping that in mind we look forward to staying there again.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Lodge at Sonoma and can't wait to come back. The rooms are spotless and comfortable. Ours had an electronically-operated fireplace, which was so nice on a chilly night. The bed was super comfortable. The property itself is beautiful. So much better than other, more expensive places in the area. I would recommend without any hesitation.
