We went to Solvang in the week between Christmas and New Year's and joined some friends who were staying here.
They were smart and rented a cottage which was roomier and slightly better in look and layout. We opted for a junior suite which had a convoluted layout and a sort of comfortable bed with the WORSE PILLOWS I've ever had the misfortune of trying to use.
Not feathers or down, but some sort of crumbled up foam that was impossible to use to get comfortable. Needless to say between the less than ideal pillows and a light shining outside, but into our room that was sort of blocked out by the blinds, it was a less than ideal night.
And like the airlines who have a tendency to price gouge over the holidays, the Wine Valley Inn is no exception to this heinous practice. Our room cost $249. a night and I was just on their site and saw the same room for $99.00 per night.
The breakfast provided was adequate, but hardly high end. Scrambled eggs with some mystery meat sausage and toast it yourself bread...like I said, nothing special.
My advice is go at less than peak season, or better yet, visit Solvang during the day and stay 3-4 miles down the road in Buellton where there are better hotels at more reasonable prices.

Room Tip: Try to get a cottage. Even the high end rooms are less than high end.

The hotel is well located in Solvang, we wanted to make a stop of one night travelling from San Francisco to LA.
The town is beautiful, a little part of Europe that surprised us.
In general its ok, but it needs a refresh.
The hotel needs to improve the cleaning, for example the room had old carpets that smell a bit of humidity, they should renew them. Besides the heating wasnt working and was a cold night, they made us a discount for that issue.
The breakfast was included, which was ok consideringn the rates of the hotel.

I really wanted to like this place. The reservation and front desk staff were so friendly. I paid almost $250 per night for one of the loft rooms but it really felt like a $100/night experience. And some things just aren't acceptable, like using stained sheets and thread bare towels. We left the little sign off of the bed (per instructions) so that the sheets would be changed. Unfortunately, when we got back to our room at almost 11pm, the bed had just been re-made. The sheets were still the stained ones. This is just not acceptable. Also, the dormer window ledge was very dusty and the curtain was so dirty that it looked beige. We just could not justify sending a friend there to spend that kind of money for a sub par experience.

Had a wedding in the area and I️ booked few rooms. the place is very old, and not clean. It’s even smell like old. It’s nothing even similar to their website. I️ booked a suit for my parents and it was far from what it looked online. When I️ spoke with the manager she wasn’t surprised with my complains . She decided to give me some discount. The breakfast is nice and the stuff is friendly. Don’t think I’ll be back

Very nice hotel in town. A really great staff responded to every request quickly. Great breakfasts. Rooms were wonderful - we stayed on the 3rd floor - only an elevator to the 2nd floor so be prepared to walk but it was worth it as the rooms had vaulted ceilings.

Room Tip: 3rd fl rooms have no elevator - just to 2nd fl.
