We recently stayed at The Astro in September 2018 when we came out to Santa Rosa for a friend's wedding. After looking at a handful of other places we decided to book here and are extremely glad we did!
A former derelict motorlodge, it has earlier this year been restored to the retro masterpiece that it is now. A big part of the reason why we booked was the great design aesthetics that conjure up images of the heyday of 1950's roadtripping and all the rooms are complimented by knick-knacks ranging from classic cameras to kids toys from the era.
We only spent one night but the staff was wonderful, ensuring a smooth check in process and getting us situated into our room. The rooms are spacious (almost more than we needed but we came from SF so maybe we were just used to the smaller ones there) but very well equipped with wifi, a mini fridge, and flat screen tv.
Several of the other features include free parking, a small breakfast spread in the morning, and bikes to rent on the property if you feel like getting out for a pedal around.
Overall, The Astro makes a great base for exploring wine country that won't break the bank while still giving you a comfortable and unique spot to lay your head.More
